Let's just say, Trey didn't make the best of his opportunities. He didn't look as good as Purdy stepping in for Garoppolo, Young stepping in for Montana, Kaepernick for Smith. If he would've wowed the team and the fans, this conversation would not be happening

She’s an annoying witch that is constantly trying to virtue signal for black QBs every chance she gets. No matter how much they get paid or how bad they are she tries to push them and claim they’re better than they are/under appreciated. Trey lance is case in point. If the 49ers are considering it that’s because he hasn’t proven himself in 2 years. With mahomes the whole locker room and organization said he’s a beast. Even Jalen was building Allies before he started. Obviously lance isn’t that guy(maybe he is in another organization) but purdy played within the system flawlessly. Everyone thought treys advantages would be size, arm and running. He’s inaccurate and his running isn’t good(he’s slow and not elusive) also possibility of being fragile. That said I think they should keep him they went through 3 QBs last year whos to say they won’t this upcoming season.

@jamesparker3189 Жыл бұрын

Exactly. Get picks for him build better team
@markys7269 Жыл бұрын
I can see the Niners trading Trey Lance. They wouldn’t have gone and got Darnold if they were intent on keeping him and I don’t think they’ll anticipate what happened in the NFCCG as happening again. No team would have planned for that and what really let them down was having Jimmy G stand there in uniform but with no chance of going out there after multiple QBs got knocked out, especially when he knew he was leaving and he was about to get another contract. It’s not a bad thing for Trey Lance. It’s just the situation it is. Unfortunately Brock Purdy had some more luck and took better advantage of his chances. However there’s a lot of teams that want or need a QB and that number will only go up. Will Lamar lower his asking price? Will Dak throw less picks? Will Wilson reverse his awful form? Trey Lance isn’t expensive. For $4-5 million and a high ceiling, he’s a viable option to replace anyone. Regardless of how ludicrous their cap hit might be 🤷🏼♂️

@greyklopstock7155 Жыл бұрын
He's been way more than a game manager. He actively made plays with his legs, made plays off script, and completed passes with accuracy all over the field. The 49ers actually EXPANDED the playbook going from Jimmy G to Brock Purdy. Dude won two playoff games as a rookie for crying out loud. That's exceedingly rare. It'd be one thing if the kid was getting carried by scheme and made a bunch of mistakes when he was expected to make plays. But Brock made a bunch of good decisions, and he made plays that Jimmy couldn't make and I'm not sure if Trey will ever have the poise like Purdy did.
@twindragon5668 Жыл бұрын
@@greyklopstock7155 made plays with his legs? He had 22 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD, hardly call that “using your legs” he had more then 20 pass attempts and never had a 300 yard passing game. Also Brock Purdy started (not played started) 7 games this season and Jimmy G started (not played started) 9 games and Jimmy G had 2300+yards 16TDs with 4INTS, Brock Purdy had 1300+yards 13TDs with 4INTS. Doesn’t seem like Brock and Jimmy are that different
@greyklopstock7155 Жыл бұрын
@@twindragon5668 two thing 1) you only counted his five regular season games he started. When you tabulate his three playoff games in addition, one of which he maybe played five snaps in, you get 1941 yards passing and 16 TDs to only four INTs. And that's in two less games than Jimmy cause he got hurt so early in the NFC championship game. So he actually averaged more TDs per game and fewer INTs than Jimmy. And he did it with a higher passer rating too. 2) making plays with your legs is WAY more than just rushing yards. It's scrambling, it's moving around in the pocket, it's knowing how to slide, run out of bounds, etc. Brock made tons of plays rolling out of the pocket, moving around in the pocket, scrambling. Stuff that Jimmy just plain couldn't ever do. When scouts say the tape shows Brock is miles better than Jimmy G, he probably is. Basically, not only did you use the numbers incorrectly, you brought focus towards the numbers which actually help my point. And you don't get what making plays with your legs is. Russell Wilson doesn't get a lot of rushing yards, but in the past he's made tons of plays with his legs by throwing on the move. Mahomes does it all the time. There's a difference between running and being mobile. Brock is infinitely more mobile than Jimmy, who moved like his feet were in cement. And to work Shanahans full offense, you gotta have some QB motion after the snap. See the big TD to deebo in the Seattle playoff game for reference. It is designed for Brock to go outside the pocket and make a throw to deebo in stride for a big gain and TD. If your QB can't move, that's not a play you can call
@twindragon5668 Жыл бұрын
@@greyklopstock7155 I ain’t reading your essay. All I know is Purdy’s numbers say he doesn’t use legs and his numbers when playing are similar to Jimmy G. @greyklopstock7155 Жыл бұрын
@@twindragon5668 if you actually read it, you would have learned that there's so much more to using your legs than just rushing yards. In fact, rushing yards is literally the smallest, most miniscule part of it. Go watch the tape in the Seattle playoff game, and the first half of the Tampa Bay game. In the Seattle game, he twice scrambled out of the pocket in the red zone and found dump offs for TDs. That's making plays with your legs. Or how about when he juked out Devin white and hit deebo on the opposite sideline throwing on the move? His numbers are better than Jimmy in literally every way. Completion percentage, yards per game, TD to int ratio, TDs per game. And actually watch the film, dude. Brock Purdy looked like effing drew Brees out there.

Perfect offer would be Minnesota's 4th this year, a conditionial 2nd-1st in 2024, depending on Lance's health and individual performance. Similar to the Carson Wentz trade. Personally, I don't think this is the ideal time to trade him yet. No one knows how he and Purdy will be coming off injury, and you'd want to drive Lance's value by letting him play, without relying on Sam Darnold should Purdy get injured again. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold were both worth a second and additional picks when they were traded, no reason Lance couldn't demand the same.

Anyone saying they know Lance is a bust or that he will be great is lying to you or themselves. No one knows. That fact that no one can agree should be your first clue.

I wouldn't even consider trading Trey Lance I would keep developing him, I think he's a diamond in the rough...And also you don't know if Purdy will even be ready or even know if he needs another surgery.

Gilbert Arenas tells a story about a coach telling him to stop embarrassing a 1st Rd pick and a big free agent in practice..... That he was a 2nd Rd pick he's not playing in front of them... Everyone on the team knows he's better but the front office won't allow the coach to play him......

Im not a Trey Lance fan and say don't do it. He is Young and cheap with potential. The same with Purdy. However one just had a arm injury. What can you get for him that is worth risking QB talent in the NFL today.

Brock has so much football played in College, he comes in as a rookie and looks like a vet. Lance doesn't have any where the body of work Brock has. It would be more of a chance to bet on Lance than Brock.
