How could Mercole Hardman not know over time rule when Chiefs' offense extensively game-planned for over time, and agreed on what to do if the situation arose? Was Hardman left out while other players game planned? Mercole Hardman was overwhelmed by his prominent role in the unfolding events, and he momentarily blacked.

As a lifelong Niners fan, who grew up with the likes of John Brodie before Joe Montana, I completely sympathize now with the teams we played and routinely beat in the '80s (namely the Cowboys, Rams and Bengals) when Montana was at the helm. It didn't matter how far behind we were in the second half, we KNEW we'd still win as long as Montana was standing. That's today's KC Chiefs with Pat Mahomes. Ugh, this loss will sit for a while.
