43 (for a couple more months 😁). Funny how they have that effect, for some reason I still don't really understand, this music has the exact same effect on me. Haven't listened to them for almost twenty years, a lot of hard things came crashing down and I became so hard, but my precious wife stuck by my side (the most beautiful soul I've ever encountered, on this side of the Mortal Coil, that is...but that's a long story: I'll say this, though, I don't "believe" in Heaven, I absolutely know it exists, nothing and no one can ever take that away now...went from having my spine crashed in a car accident and being paralyzed in one leg and unable to really use the other one broke my neck in 3 places, was told I'd NEVER walk again, and would soon lose bowel and bladder control...one day, after a particularly deep look into my own soul, I just began weeping so hard that I collapsed, I thought my heart had literally burst inside of me...I can't entirely explain what happened next, but out of a darkness I knew to be eternal and infinite, a fragrant, oily fire came pouring down on my soul, and I was met...I don't feel comfortable giving all the details, but I can say that the most BEAUTIFUL Woman I've ever encountered - beyond imagination, there are truly no words - looked into my eyes with the deepest love and kindest, deepest pity, and picked me up, continuing to gaze into my eyes. More radiant the Sun, Her face, and purer than Pure...I saw and heard so much more, but can't really share it, too personal, and really beyond words, but all the thrashed, beaten, cut, empty, and torn parts of my soul were filled with absolute light and love so solid and powerful that every hurt I ever had was erased, and I never wanted to leave Her arms...when I eventually "came back" to my body, not only could I walk again, but I went out to my backyard and did a backflip on my trampoline, something I hadn't done in over 25 years: you should have seen the look on my wife and childrens' faces!) In any event, I'll never be the same again, and listening to music like this reminds me of that haunting, lovely beauty, and draws tears out of my eyes once again (did I mention I couldn't stop crying - from the joy of having my body restored, but also the sadness of having to leave that Light and all the loving Souls there who love with One Heart, One Mind, and One Spirit?) This music is like medicine for weary souls...just wonderful.

For those asking about her lip movements not matching the sounds-as a professional musician I think I can answer this. Her angelic voice is treated with heavy effects: reverb being most obvious, maybe some delay and possibly a harmonizing effect. It’s partly why she sounds so otherworldly. And what can happen in the studio is, if the singer can hear these affects in their headphones, they sing to and enunciate according to how the sound comes back to them. So, lets take the phrase Las Vegas-Liz clearly isn’t enunciating the GAS part in the word, as the delay and reverb is still flowing from the previous phrase. So she’s leaving space for the effects to breathe. Make sense? It sounds like she’s singing something like “It must be heaven or Las Vegooooowowow’ and letting the last syllable and note be carried away in a wash of effects. It’s a very, very beautiful and compelling way to sing. She is a Celtic goddess.

As people they came off as just ordinary people, who made the most extraordinary music. Robin was the one who introduced me to Elizabeth. It was the 2nd time backstage that I met Simon. A lot of great memories from that tour. I asked Robin if they could play my home town, Cleveland, the next time they toured. We met, again, during the FCC tour, and not only did they add Cleveland, but Ohio was the only state that had 3 shows. They gave me tickets and backstage access to quite a few of those shows. The language they sing is not of this time. It is from the time of emotion , one does not need to understand the words, for there are only few we understand, yet we feel the words in detail from deep within. That is why I have loved them so, for so many years. Even tho we do not understand the lyrics, we know exactly what they are saying... Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm a 30 year old guy who heard this song for the first time just a few months ago, but it is already very special to me. ***WAYY TOO LONG STORY TIME*** We went to Vegas for a bachelor party weekend for one of my best friends and had an amazing time (you can imagine). Me and one friend got an earlier 5:30 AM Sunday flight out of there to be cheap. We stayed up all night at the Cosmo having so much fun that we still managed to miss our flight (barely), so then we had to be in the airport until 1:30 PM for our new flight. We had just got to our new gate at 6 AM, almost no one else in our terminal. My friend lays down to take a nap on the ground next to our stuff, exhausted, and defeated. I'm just sitting nearby, unable to sleep. I'm drunk, high, and hungover all at the same time. I'm miserable but somehow very happy at the same time, mindlessly watching the sunrise outside the terminal window. At that moment, this song starts playing over the speakers (of course just because it has Las Vegas in the name), but my ears immediately perk up right when it starts with that verse groove. It was so quiet in there that I could hear the music super clearly, and I just thought the vibe was immaculate (and I was right). I held my phone up in the air to Shazam it, listened to it a few more times, eventually went to the bar for SEVERAL hours and then we flew home. Now, and for the rest of my life, this song will take me right back to those 5 minutes in the empty terminal, and then to that great weekend with my bros. ***TLDR=This song reminds me of a good weekend I had in Vegas once***

I hope someday the Cocteau Twins will get more credit for evolving music than they already have. The notion of using language as an instrument has never been more commercially proven. They sold millions of songs where no one knew exactly what they were listening to, and still loving every minute of it. There is opera, and other musical forms where listeners aren't quite sure what language they're listening to, but CT struck a special cord. They influenced generations immediately, in the now, based on pure impact and emotion.

When this album came out, I was a sophomore in high school, and spent dozens of hours in sitting at the 24 hour Lyon’s smoking way too many cigarettes, drinking 75 cent coffee and arguing with my friends about what the fuck she was saying. That was so much fun, and it makes me a little sad that the convenience of “google” means that we can’t really do that anymore.

I use to know them. I first met them in various cities during the HOLV tour. As people they were great...Really down to earth. They were just ordinary people, who made the most extraordinary music. Robin was the one who introduced me to Elizabeth. It was the 2nd time, backstage, that I met Simon. A lot of great memories from that tour. I asked Robin if they could play my home town, Cleveland, the next time they toured, and they did. We met, again, during the FCC tour, and not only did they add Cleveland, but Ohio was the only state that had 3 shows. They gave me tickets and backstage access to quite a few of those shows. Again, a lot of great memories. I love their music, and I loved them as people.

^^ Agree 100%. I first met them in Berkeley during their HOLV tour. There were a bunch of other fans outside, but I walked right up to Liz and blabbered something about being a huge fan. Next thing I knew we were shaking hands. Second time was a treat because I met someone who was close friends with Simon. There was a pre-concert meetup in SF before their Milk and Kisses show and everyone was there. Chatted with Simon about the tour and got Liz to show me her tattoos. I was too shy to talk to Robin, but later when he was touring with Siobhan de Mare as Violet Indiana, I finally talked to him and he signed my ticket stub.

"Heaven or Las Vegas" in Las Vegas for my True Love: It began, I was living in Los Angeles at that time, studying Architecture. My fiancé and I, both, tried to plan a formal wedding; but, there was always something that would interfere with our plans. Her family and friends lived in the Southern California region (Los Angeles): My family and friends all lived in the Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area (considered the epicenter of high-tech industry, Silicon Valley). Now, those who don't understand California's immensity, it's said: California is the size of the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Kosovo and Czech Republic "all combined together". So, needless to say, a wedding is an immense undertaking. Nothing ever seemed to workout, whenever, we 'planned' anything. We both started doing things differently. Serendipity smiled upon our determination: spontaneity, spurre-of-the-moment, just doing things impulsively - become our motivation. With our new-found stratagem in mind, I just said to her, "It's March 13, 1999 today (our luck numbers combined) let's just get married before the end of the day. We eloped to Las Vegas, inorder, to beat the clock and get married within the next, 18 hours, of the day left. She got a dress and me a tuxedo, and off we drove. Well, we didn't call ahead or make reservations for anything. That was a mistake since there was a National Convention happening in the city. There were no, absolutely no, hotel rooms available, even at the largest casino's. Undaunted. When we got there, I asked, "where can we go to find, a place, that's not "tacky" to get married?" I was told, that there was a place called, "The Little Chapel of the West" - it's a real chapel, famous for marrying Old-Hollywood stars. I make an, 11:30 pm reservation; then, they asked what music does she want to play, while, she's walking down the aisle? I had our, trusty Cocteau Twins CD, "Heaven or Las Vegas" ready and waiting. She was picked up by a limousine, and I drove down the "Las Vegas Strip", and I was fighting the traffic and I was getting down to the wire on time. I finally, I get there, with only 4 minutes left. The limousine driver meets me, and says, "Your future wife, has been crying for 20 minutes, thinking, you got 'cold feet' and 'left her at the altar' ". I go inside the chapel and waited, while she fixed her makeup from crying. Then, they open the doors and start playing, "Heaven or Las Vegas" in Las Vegas. Needless-to-say, she was everything I ever wanted and this song echoed throughout the chapel, that ethereal cascade of plucked strings and strumed rifts, and within that moment, we both, could hear, "The Voice of God" presiding, just for us and nobody else. It was, truly, one of the most surreal and spiritual moments - Then it starts - (four cords,) (four cords,) "Who'll ever Win? Gee, Your so Ephemeral, ..... , ..... Singing on a Famous Street, I Want to Love Me, My Guess, Is It Heaven or Las Vegas, Which is More Brighter, Than the Sun is to Me" I saw everything in - slow motion, but, remember when I said we eloped? We forgot to bring a witness, and we had to have a witness to sign our marriage certificate. No employee of the chapel could sign, according to Las Vegas law: I'm in a panic - then - we'll never forget, the limousine driver named Jack, who should have left already, stuck around to watch us and steps in, to say, "I don't work for any wedding venue, I'm just a limo driver, so, I'll sign for you two." We then walked across the street to the Luxor and ordered a bottle of Champagne. Cheers --- It's all true... !!! Thank You - Robin, Simon, and Elizabeth, you are apart of our souls - forever.

One of the greatest love songs ever made is one that was never supposed to be heard! During their brief yet intense romance sometime, between 1994-95, JEFF BUCKLEY and the Cocteau Twins’ ELIZABETH FRASER crafted their heavenly duet, “All Flowers in Time Bend Towards the Sun.” It was leaked after Buckley’s sudden death in 1997, and Liz, understandably so, despises this! “Why do people have to hear everything?” she vented in a rare interview with The Guardian. “It’s unfinished… I don’t want it to be heard.” It feels so deeply wrong to betray Liz and violate her privacy like this, especially after everything she’s given us. But the story behind “All Flowers in Time,” the story of Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser, is one of tenderness and tragedy-so rare yet so sincere that it’s bound to restore hope where it’s been lost, and then break your silly little heart all over again. Love you both: JEFF & ELIZABETH ❤️🩹💔❣️

Gee, you're just so ephemeral Go back for new For new in vain, it failed Singing on the famous street I want to love me Am I just in heaven or Las Vegas It's so much more brighter than the sun is to me The chill must itch in my soul That's like any old playing card It must be why I'm thinking of Las Vegas It's why it's more brighter than the sun is to me Furthermore, let's blast it off I'm dizzy so I go, another bit it off Come fantasy, for a carnival I'm empty before our wedding Singing on the famous street I want to love me Am I just in heaven or Las Vegas It's so much more brighter than the sun is to me The chill must itch in my soul That's like any old playing card It must be why I'm thinking of Las Vegas It's why it's more brighter than the sun is to me Maybe there, while you was rail I'll go in and seize your heart and be personal I suspect I'm singing to you a tune And still you find the beat and sing it to you soon

I find myself humming this music all day long, quite unconsiously. Love it so much!
