i love how people confuse this as old stuff, looks real oldschool though! the sound is absolutely fresh and does not only reiterate but is it's very own era of drum and bass building on the sound of the 90's, thank you very very much for this!

Yeah man every now and then on Spotify I get tricked by a track that isn't actually oldschool but is from the 2020s. One such artist is Brakka, making jungle tracks like what you'd hear from Suburban Base Records. 😂

I really like early jungle album artwork. It's interesting to see what the designers back then came up with to match this emerging style and make it look unique, it was this nice blend of actual jungles and 90s renders that I really like.. I'm glad other people are appreciating it too

I gotta wonder the origin of the kickdrums of this genre, they sound like a mixture of drum machine and a super crispy acoustic kick, or perhaps even a recorded sound pitched way down. by far the least bassy kicks of any genre besides maybe jazz, which is interesting given that modern DnB has perhaps the most subby.
@mil3sperhour Жыл бұрын
usually its utilizing the kick from an actual acoustic drum kit (loop/chops) and then sometimes layered with a tiny subtle sub click from a drum machine (you can usually tell by looking at the waveform kick and seeing how defined the sine waveform is). It gives it a nice extra structure while still making space in the mix for an 808 bassline.

Do y’all think jungle / d&b has potential to make an impact in mainstream music
@ljafrain2 жыл бұрын
It already is massively in the UK, pretty much anyone you speak to at least likes a few drum and bass tracks and it's starting to hit the charts
@RatBürgerSk8 Жыл бұрын
Jungle doesn't have enough vocals to hit the charts in the US imo, Americans tend to be more aversive towards music without distinct vocals. If Jungle artists were to gain any ground in the American mainstream, it would be by collaborating with an already commercially successful artist. It's a pity, because I think Jungle and DnB is one of the more easy to grasp genres for an uninitiated listener. Idk how Dubstep gained so much mainstream popularity with how jarring it can be.
@Arc.hitectureMusic Жыл бұрын
@@RatBürgerSk8 I am still baffled by how big dubstep became in the US.
@bluejackmedia Жыл бұрын
DnB is getting huge in some parts of the US. I know Sub Focus and Deekline (very different ends of the DnB spectrum!) and they've both been there this year and say it's starting to make an big impression. I lived in LA in 2000 and the second guy I met had decks and a whole collection of Metalheadz vinyl. RIP Erick Cheren. But this music was created in the UK underground, it's constantly morphed and mutated and will continue. So not 100% sure the US, or anywhere, will take to it like we have in the UK. Big up all Jungle Massive!!!! Let's keep this music alive :)
