My hair was doing this when I set it, I used a boar bristle brush right before rolling and it smoothed out completely

Hey Jade..her hair turned out beautifully..a few tips ive learned doing tension roller sets..as someone with finer hair try using smaller rollers and keeping the hair stretched before you wrap the roller for a smoother look..also using a spray leave in and a serum/cream before foam can help keep the secrion damp and then keeping each section elongated by twisting it and cliping it helps the curl from shrinking..i like using a serum oil and anti humidity spray before pressing my cirls..and yes pinning up the rollers in sections helps keep the curls..i use heated rollers during the week to refresh the curls..fave setting foam for my roller sets is the doux gangsta wrap..

Second time around going natural, and I love doing roller sets, even if I just end up wearing a ponytail/bun all week. Less pulling and manipulation of the hair during the week. Lots of trial and error with products that work for your individual hair, but for my high porosity hair, I love Mizanie Miracle 25 Miracle Milk Leave-Spray, Salerm Cosmetics 21 B5 Silk Protein Leave-in Conditioner, or Crece Pelo Leave-in ..add any one of those to dripping wet hair when roller setting. Once hair is dried, add Opalex No 7 hair bonding oil then wrap (or flat iron then wrap)

Back in the day I use to use Dudley’s Crème Press. Initially, I thought this is going to be heavy but then with the right amount it was amazing! I only blow my hair out maybe once a year so I haven’t used it in over 15 years! Beautiful hair! Thank you for sharing!

I wish there was a way to good results without using the flat iron.

You can use a round brush dryer instead and it comes out really volumous and fluffy. I have the one by drybar

Ok. So you didn’t get her hair tight enough on the roller. Thats why it was lifting. If you didn’t want to use a rat tail comb, a brush with closer teeth would be ok too. Also, smaller sections and smaller rollers. Nevertheless, I really really thank you for showing someone with a tighter type 4 texture. I also like that you push Christianity at the center of all you do. ❤️

Her hair looks great. I’d use much smaller sections to keep the hair from lifting off the roller. I would have skipped the pressing oils and creams entirely. They just weigh the hair down and make it stiff. I don’t use anything post roller set until after the flatiron for a little gloss.

How long did her press last? Did the products used weigh her hair down and flatten her curls over time?

What are ur thoughts on ur drier causing breakage or damage to the crown of ur head bc that’s where the fan on their specific drier is located? My stylist mentioned this possibly being the cause of my splits in my crown. But i thought rollersets were less direct heat. But i can also understand that fan blowing my hair up in that area Every week or two could be an issue. I wanted to know if u had any heat damage experiences with a hooded drier. I think my issue was something Else but I’m trying to narrow it down.

That flat iron wasn’t necessary

The hair needs to be soaking wet before you add the foam and then brush it out so it smooths onto the roller, this will help it set better ❤
