What I did to take off the CV axles is just remove those two 24 mm bolts on the strut and then pulled it down and slid out the axle ends and then put one bolt back through to hold it back up. By the way thank you so much for this video this is the only one I could find on doing it and you are right it is really easy only takes a few hours I searched Chilton manuals and all data and they really were no help so thanks so much for this video God bless you!

Thanks for this. I'm about to replace the input shaft bearing on mine. I probably should go ahead and replace the clutch too.

once I installed the transmission, I installed the trans axles, hanging them temporarily just to test a good connection, I hand turned the crank at the balancer, saw the flywheel turn but no trans axles,...I believe they should??,...I tried 1st through 4th gears,...still no movement in the axles

Hey, I got mr transmission charge me for 15.6 hours to replace clutch and flywheel and the only reason I went there because I wanted them to fix loud input shaft beating as well and they said that the transmission is good so when I received the car the input shaft bearing is so loud on low and makes such a loud noise that they want to charge me for transmission removal again plus rebuild. I don’t understand why they couldn’t take the transmission out of the car at the time of clutch replacement and is 15.6 hours for the clutch work way to much to charge? Let me know what you think... thanks

I had an 07 Eclipse GS and had to replace the clutch about 3 months after getting it (used) about 13k miles later it blew out again. Is this normal for this car? I had an '85 F150 4 speed and after over 100k miles driving it, I had no trouble with the clutch and it was what I learned how to drive stick in. the Eclipse just felt like it would slip when im going uphill, even if im in 3rd at 5000. Never had that problem in my Ford

Video was handy for getting the trans out. Any tips on dealing with that rear mount and getting the trans lined back up? Kinda stuck.

Can the flywheel be installed in any position?,...that is, I don't see any notches to adhere to?

Out of curiosity, what fluid did you use in the transmission? The manual calls for GL-3 SAE 75W-80 but good luck finding that.
@obsessivehobbies54645 жыл бұрын
Yeah I went with redline gl4 75w-80

i appreciate the video but it’s a lot easier and faster without the taking the Axles off I just let them hang and i lower it after i unbolt with my jack

What parts do you have for the clutch? and does it have a throw out bearing?

Quick question: I'm doing this same job on my sons 2006. I removed the dust cover on the bottom of the bell housing and I have star-shaped bolts going through the flywheel. Do those bolts have to come out or does the entire transmission just come off once all the bell housing bolts are off? I've seen some videos where you'll have to rotate the flywheel and remove bolts and others the trans just "pops" off. Any help would be great thanks!

Is your son's car an auto? It sounds like you're describing the auto trans with the tq converter bolts

@@obsessivehobbies5464 Hey, thanks for the quick reply! No, its the 5 speed manual trans. The bolts on the back of the "starter ring" are rather shallow torx head style bolts. Didn't know if these had to come out by rotating the flywheel or if the clutch would slide out after removing all bell housing bolts. I've only ever done clutches on my 79 malibu so this front wheel drive is new to me.

@@maxenra I didn't pull those. I did yank the starter.

@@obsessivehobbies5464 Okay. Just finished re-installing the transmission. Thanks a lot for your help with that. Didn't need to remove those!

Thanks for this video,...lots of lessons to apply,...now, to replace a clutch you really did NOT need to pull the passenger side axle, right?,...I believe you said it was your plan to replace both axles before the clutch issue came up?,...thanks again!!
@yogiberra474 жыл бұрын
please cancel my question,...I see the need now!!!

Just a 34mm (I believe) socket for the hub nut

After changing the clutch plate, flywheel, and throw-out bearing, there's still a noisy, horrible, grinding sound when the clutch peddle is NOT pressed. It kinda goes away when depressed.
@user-jf6fg7jr2b3 жыл бұрын
@@ChiefJayBinns Im guessing you didnt align the clutch properly, there should be a tool that you use if you bought the whole kit
