Yesterday, 4J Studios released their new Discord server, we had a conversation with Stuart from 4J and Steve from 4J and they told us loads of interesting fun things.

yeah lol, the boost stops when you reach a certain speed and if you slow yourself by 360ing or other methods like flicks, you can move in the direction you want with good accuracy and choose where you want to release the boost

Bedrock is honestly kinda trash. The entity/mob caps in console edition were generally not noticeable, especially with modern consoles heck, java even uses them (in a better form). And the crashes. Bedrock can't Run a medium sized world ON A PS 5! without trying to kill.its.self, and it take, I kid you not MONTHS for them to fix tiny bugs. Even game breaking or serious ones can take them into a year. Jigsaw structure error galore. The water is sometimes more opaque, and the player vision in water being off to the play position, the redstone is even 'broken' (I say this because I don't understand why they couldn't just use the same logic for redstone as java, or even try to emulate it, when it's literally A CORE COMPONENT to the game. I'm going to end this here before I go on and on.

Bedrock is just godawful. They rushed the game, with all the bugs, framerates, slow startups and such. Legacy runs smoothly without any issues

It's crazy when my friends who were getting ready to go to college still played Minecraft when we played PS4 Edition. That's how good 4J was, making almost grown men play a kids game for hours. And Bedrock, supported by millions of dollars and many more devs than 4J, is painful to play.

My siblings barely played Bedrock. If I saw any of them at my Xbox One, it always meant that my brother is playing HL2. A while ago I hunted down Legacy edition for the One and my goodness my siblings WON'T GET AWAY FROM MY CONSOLE!!! I'm so happy to see it finally be used, but goodness gracious it's annoying at times. They adore Legacy edition and will come up to me and say it's better compared to Bedrock. My 8 year old sister calls it "the old one" haha Even kids prefer it over Bedrock

4J really had a good understanding on Minecraft that I still cant believe Microsoft did them as dirty as they did, they gave console Minecraft such a unique feeling, even down to the slight color tinge and minigame modes.

Well bedrock was built off of pocket edition, so you can start to unravel why it plays so badly, plus with so many bugs. I still personally think Java is better tho. Some guy even already ported glide to Java aswell (I don't remember what mod is called sorry)

One of the reasons why they decided to pull out the plug on console content updates is that they want to drive attention to Bedrock, it's now called "Legacy" for a reason

4J Studios had the best hands on the console editions for Minecraft. Bedrock screwed and is still screwing over the entire console scene. I understand they ported the consoles to bedrock with good intentions such as crossplay, but when the game just feels horrible why port it anyway? People were happy on the console scene, sure it was late on updates but people loved it and that's what mattered.

iirc the reason was because the switch and xbox one had bedrock edition available already by the time 1.13 was released for console editions which made optimizing for those two consoles a waste of resources, and ps4 didnt have bedrock due to sony being stuck up about cross play at the time which is why it still got the update and not the switch and xbox one despite being in the same generation

I truly miss how smooth console edition was. Now, trying to load up Minecraft bedrock on my Xbox 1 it takes 10 minutes just to get to the opening menu. Bedrock edition is such a downgrade. I play on my iPad now with a controller so it loads instantly, but I miss console edition all the time. I’m tired of lagging when I open a chest from my Xbox. Bedrock edition sucks. Minecraft needs to have a huge bedrock edition update.

I don’t despise Bedrock edition, but it really is worse in most ways. It has some nice additions, but it’s a worse experience overall. I wish they’d let 4J continue to work on that edition. That or just let them handle Bedrock, but we know that Microsoft won’t do that.

The thing about Cross play is that it's always been easy. Companies just don't want to do it because that cuts into profits. Remember when the Fortnite devs accidentally enabled crossplay? They said it was as easy as pressing a switch. And that was literally when that game came out. This has been possible for ages. But if cross play was available on every console, then you wouldnt have to buy every console/PC to play with your friends.
