It's a vast land with a small population. Most of the inhabitants are black Africans controlled by the minority moor people or so called Arabs. It's a country where slavery existed at it's peak thought fading away gradually nowadays. The moor people or so called Arabs feel superior over the black Africans but when it comes to Western education, these black Africans seems more educated. Non Mauritanians or foreigners living in the country are often rounded up and either taken to jail or deported to neighbouring Senegal in the south. I have lived in the border of Rosso and Nouadhibou bordering Western Sahara which is under Moroccan administration.
