Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
One of my goals was village in the middle of Shikoku mountains - village of scarecrows. Technically this is not a village but area Nagoro of Miyoshi city. Officially village has only one permanent citizen but there are some other people who live here temporary. But permanently living old woman decided to recreate people previously living in that place as scarecrows. You may find here more than 100 scarecrows.
Map www.google.com...
Time 09/17 15:00
Filmed in UltraHD 4K 60p with Lumix GH5 camera, 8-18 f2.8-4 lens, Beholder EC1 stabilizer and Audio-Technica AT9946CM mic. Aerial filming with Mavic 2 Pro.
Feel free to correct my English or suggest a video to film.

@Rambalac - Regional Tourism site www.iyatime.com/nagoro-scarecrow-village ...Tsukimi Ayano (69) left for Osaka, some time after their dam became automated (a catalyst for the depopulation) then moved back to Nagoro in 2002, to care for her father (88 if still alive). She was married and has a daughter (both in Osaka). Originally Tsukimi was a sculptor/potter and started making the scarecrows in 2003. Annually, there's the Nagoro Scarecrow Festival, usually in October. Additionally she holds classes in her artform; Click the link for further info or to contact Tsukimi.

I watched this one with the livestream. The town to me had a really melancholy feel, the dolls being a tribute to the town community that once was. I remember watching a documentary on KZbin a few months ago about all the younger generation moving to the big cities for job prospects and careers, resulting in these ghost towns. Personally I'd much prefer living here than the cities! So much opportunity to be self sufficient.

Yea,mountains,river,trees... I want to go there and take a deep breath of freash air. It needs a little improvement like some shops and some kind of medical care for emergency. I dont know if i whould permanently live there but i whould for 3,4 months a year. Btw there are a lott of cars to be completely abandoned.

googled: Tsukimi Ayano, whose family left the area when she was a child, moved back to Nagoro in the early 2000s to look after her father, and made a doll in his likeness that she placed in a field; she has since made more than 400 including replacements, and about 350 are in the village. Many are also likenesses of residents or former residents, while others are invented people. Will be nice to make good photography composites of the dolls.....they all have characters.

As scary as it is, I find this thing saddening. I remember the reason why these dolls are there is because of how dire the population decline was in the area that the remaining residents try to setup these dolls just not to be lonely. 😔

Initially the village does seem eerie/creepy but after reading a bit about the woman making all these dolls, it's a mix of sad and interesting. She seems mentally all their and more so treating the village like a living, breathing, changing piece of art. I don't know how long the village will last, even with the tourism, but I can respect what the woman is doing at least.

Shikoku is such a beautiful place. Old mountain villages in the mountains and old fishing villages on the coast. Other than the four main cities (which are also nice), It's like taking a step back in time to post war years in Japan.

There is something so cool and yet so eerie about the way this place looks. The winding road next to the mostly dried-up river, with a handful of buildings dotted along its sides. The opening to this video looks like the establishing shot of a horror movie town before everything goes wrong! And that's not even addressing the scarecrows themselves! This whole place is basically Test of Bravery: The Location. I definitely couldn't walk through it at night, that's for sure!

Unusual surprise you give us today Dear Rambalac!!! Unbeatable beauty of these aerial shots! Impeccable task you makes us Wonder again !!! We arrive virtually flying over this valley where this mysterious town is loaded with that symbolism so typical of the soul of Japan that those who are concerned with the rush to which life in the great cities submits do not leave us with mental clarity to understand something like this. However, each stage and each scene so clean and well cared, the waters of the gardens, the gymnasium, the tools and the clothes!! Also I coincides with this correct comment when he states that:"Personally I'd much prefer living here than the cities! So much opportunity to be self sufficient" Thank you with all my heart for this Magnificent walk today, you give us another brushstroke of Joy and Color to our Life!!! Grateful and cordial greetings from Argentina: Elba :-)

I'm not a crow, but that is really scary. And sad. Mostly sad. With Japan's dwindling population I can imagine a future version of this with robots replacing long gone people, just imitating the routine they had in live, until cities will be mostly populated by them. A memento of something that was and is never going to be again.
