I didn't care much for anything super had to offer. I absolutely love this opening theme song. It feels just as good as the original Dragonball song. I'm loving this entire series so far and I love this song so much! RIP Akira toriyama. You're a legend.

I love how this intro lowkey gives the impression that Gohan will become the main character. It feels like a passing of the torch from Father to Son. I know the Buu saga would still focus on Goku and the rest of the fighters, but if i was to watch this intro after the Cell Saga, i would definitely believe that the show transitioned into Gohan adventures becoming a legednary fighter like his father, especially after ending the last arc going Super Saiyan 2.

Because gohan was supposed to be the main character but Toriyama sensei had to scrap it because fans didn't like that

It’s actually the opposite. While yes, he was supposed to be the protag, Toriyama felt he wasn’t capable of writing Gohan as the lead, so he switched it back to Goku. It had nothing to do with the fans.

Its so funny watching this opening knowing the studio had no idea what the story was about. At the time this was made, Boo hadn't appeared, which is why there's no mention about who's the enemy and they simply figured the story was going to be about Gohan in school, which is why his classmates appear with the rest of the cast at the end despite only appearing briefly
