I went for a short hike up the Bukit Gasing hill to show my viewers the beauty of this forest reserve. As you can see, going uphill can be a challenge as I started panting after a few minutes.
The Bukit Gasing Forest Reserve is a safe place to hike and grab some fresh air. It is located right in the middle of KL and PJ. If you're entering from the PJ entrance, you can find a dedicated parking lot nearby. Although the hiking trail is relatively easy, steep climbs might be difficult for some.
There are a couple of interesting spots like the PJ suspension bridge and steel bridge on the KL side. There are also some abandoned old houses. I didn't cover these spots in my video. Perhaps I'll do another video showing you these spots.

I'm curious to this place & your video because I'm an old boy of La Salle P.J. class of 1978/MCE my school is within this area. After our MCE examinations towards end November 1978 we will be going on close to 2+months 3rd. Term school holidays after all i know I'm leaving school will not make it to Form 6 anyway. So I decided to skip classes midway morning and walk out towards the right side of the school gates going into the residential areas not out to the main road where Raju restaurant is, don't know whether it's still there now. I trekked uphill alone towards an abandoned water reservoir (we use to play truant hiding inside in 1977 on off towards year end too, walk through the jungle, followed some stream/small river passed some kampong houses and exited somewhere behind Angkasapuri/RTM broadcasting TV station then followed Federal Highway by the side towards EPF/KWSP building and towards L.S.P.J. direction but I have to pass U.K.M. hospital because my parents house is in SS2 can't remember how long it took me but I did it once and able to reach home somewhere between 1-2+p.m. for lunch maybe I started off about 1000+H it was during recess time I disappeared. I've never returned to the area since I left school and I joined RMN🇲🇾 in 1979 after receiving my results and subsequently was send off to 🇸🇬 only to return to 🇲🇾 in 1991 soon was in Europe 1994-1996 returning to Lumut finishing my service in 2003 and stayed on in Ipoh with the mining quarrying industries till 2007 returning to K.L. Has anyone tried connecting this trial you videoed to what I've mentioned about the trek that i made in 1978...tnx.

Hi @ShimomuraTakezoWong, thanks for sharing your interesting story and connection to Bukit Gasing. It's fascinating to hear about your trek in 1978! From what I know, the main entrance in PJ is off Jalan Gasing with a simple archway, but there is also the KL entrance. The KL entrance is known as Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi, officiated as a gazetted forest park in July 2012. Additionally, there are a few smaller trails that lead to some tar roads, which might be similar to the one you followed. It's wonderful that you've kept these memories alive, and I hope you have the opportunity to revisit Bukit Gasing someday. Who knows, you might even rediscover your old path!

Hi, here’s the map to get to the PJ entrance: Bukit Gasing Hiking Trail goo.gl/maps/GusEEszdUN57D8rE7 Many ways to get there but if you’re following my video, this is the entrance I took. If this is your first time, you can either take a short hike like I did. I just went in and made a u-turn (just wanted to sweat it out plus I was tired 😅). Or you can explore further. You can hike all the way to the suspension bridge (PJ side) and the metal bridge (KL side). You can also hike all the way up to the peak. Bukit Gasing is not one hill but many hills. I suggest that you go with someone who knows this place well as it’s easy to get lost. The good thing is, you can use Google maps to help you navigate your way out if you ever get lost. Duration varies depending on where you want to go. It’s taken me 2-3 hours to cover both bridges and to reach the peak.
