Mongchontoseong Fortress in Olympic Park is a castle built from the soil of ancient Korean countries 2,000 years ago. This ancient Korean country was Baekje. The cactus-shaped painting on the stairs is a seven-edged sword called "Chiljido" that is a relic of Baekje, unfortunately held by the Japanese royal family. At that time, the king of Baekje offered a gift to the king of Japan. Seoul was the first capital of Baekje 2,000 years ago, but it was destroyed by Goguryeo during the Three Kingdoms Period in 475 A.D., and Baekje moved south. The three kingdoms on the Korean Peninsula were unified into Silla in 675 AD and become Korea today. Therefore, the historical sites of Baekje were not preserved for 1,500 years. So, the ancient castle of the fallen Baekje Kingdom remains a big hill and becomes an Olympic park to pray for world peace today.

Through out the history, Korea, especially, Baekje spread a lot of culture and things to Japan though it seems that the so-called right of Japan which I rather call Japanese Nazi don't want to admit it so they have been changing the history by making a lot of fake evidence(?) and creating false history books. When I was young, I saw that a big bunch of Japanese people came to Korea to celebrate their ancestors and the history and they held a big ceremony.

Lotte World Tower is also nearby. There is also a nice trail called Seokchon Lake. I recommend this area.

You should know that Korea has four seasons, so the scenery is very different from season to season. I am not sure that you will see the same scenery as the video.

Hi! I'm impressed with the size of this park. I think they can prepare here, the next 10 editions of the Summer Olympic Games in South Korea without any problems. That's what you can appreciate in Seoul. Generosity of the areas on which leisure and relaxation spaces are arranged. Cleanliness and good maintenance. 그러네요... 그 해 과천 서울랜드에 알바하러 다녔는데 경마장쪽에 심어놓은 하얀 메밀꽃이 참 예뻤던 것이 기억나네요. 그 때 비로서 '메밀꽃 필무렵'속의 그 풍경이 와닿았었죠. 경마장 입구에 달린 올림픽 깃발도 멋지다고 생각하며 출근했었죠. 벌써 30년이 훌쩍 넘어 대학생였는데 이젠 중년을 넘어 할매가 다돼갑니다^^

학생 때 현장학습으로 성내천 → 올림픽광장 → 올림픽공원역 → 만남의광장 → 몽촌역사관 코스로 걷곤 했는데, 만남의광장 부터 경기장 주변까지의 드넓은 광장에서 학생들과 가족들이 광장 곳곳을 누비던 그 특유의 분위기가 10년이 넘어서도 기억에 남네요. 그쪽 경기장에서 휠체어 농구 경기도 보고 그랬는데 당분간은 코로나 때문에 개관도 안하고 해서 보기 어려운 광경이 되겠네요.. 추억을 떠올리게 해주신 점 감사드리고 영상 잘 보고 갑니다 :D

This park has changed since the last time I was there about 15 years ago. I remember when you couldn't walk on the grass 24:34 and the tree at 25:40 was the only one in that area. So much better now.

우와, 정말 옛날 기억 새록새록 납니다. 20년 전에 올림픽아파트 단지에 살았었는데. 올림픽 공원도 자주 갔었고, 가서 롤러블레이드 타다가 양쪽 손목 다 부러지기도 하고요 ㅋㅋ 나중에 혹시 시간 되신다면 올림픽공원 반대편쪽 (5호선역; 한체대 근처) 이랑 그쪽에 중심상가/산책로(?)도 찍어주신다면 감사하겠습니다. 매번 비디오 볼때마다 좋아요 눌르고 갑니다 :)
