Happo, to the north are Mt. Iwato, and to the southwest, where the slope is open, you can see the center of Hakuba Village and mountains such as Mt. Goryu and Mt. Kashima Yarigatake in the Northern Alps. In addition, 59.7 hectares, including villages, rice terraces, irrigation canals, and forests, have been selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
history
There are Zenkido and Baba ruins from the middle to late Jomon period around Aoki, and it is thought that a village was formed there from ancient times. The current group of private houses was built in the late Edo period to the late Meiji period, the irrigation canal "Aoki Weir" was built in the Manen-Bunkyu period at the end of the Edo period, and the Aooni Shrine and Suwa Shrine on the north side of the village were built in the Meiji period. .
architecture
There are 15 private houses in the village, 14 of which are traditional houses.[1] These are still used as residences. The roof used to be thatched, but is now covered with iron sheets. In addition, seven traditional storehouses remain, and they were built far away from the main building to prevent fires. Aoki Shrine is located on the slope behind this group of storehouses, and the village is dotted with properties such as a group of stone Buddhas.
