I have watched this train go through Stiles Junction many times growing up. My grandparents use to live right across the street from the railroad tracks and old station.

I've dropped a single car but, never several at once. That's skill, I tip my hat off to them.

Awesome video! That track and former crossing near Stiles Jct has seen better days, but that's the charm of the ELS.

Is the spur to oconto falls a uphill grade and they gravity switched those cars? Or did they get a running start, cut and get loco in the clear?
@titletownrailproductions82844 жыл бұрын
I couldn't really tell with the location I was shooting from, my assumption is its a slight downhill grade to the switch.
@25mfd4 жыл бұрын
that's a good question... what you described is called a "flying switch" or "dutch drop"... but that calls for two folks... one guy on the loco to uncouple, the other at the switch... but here looks like only one guy in this move though

@@25mfd Its a hill that they cut the air out to make the cars roll back, I have watched them do this a few times and I have a few videos of the ELS on my channel, but not as clear as these are, these are amazing videos ya got here!! Thanks for sharing them!!
