+MTG Cashcow yes... it really can do a great job! I had some issues in this video but have learned to run the camera on manual to avoid them and slowly but surely I'm learning. It is really amazing something so small can do such a good job. It was also very windy but the Mavic did a great job. I'm impressed with the drone so far... its my first drone and I'm really enjoying it!

Oh man, I need to get myself one of these. Not like I currently need it, but I'm sure I could find some use for it! Love the footage, maybe a future intro video for the vlog is in the works?!?

what are the current drone regulations for flying at the coast? waiting for mine to arrive, but with all the regulations I'm debating if its worth it. your thoughts?
@ManCaveTechnology7 жыл бұрын
Basically the same as elsewhere.... gotta stay below 400 ft.. within line of site.. and if you in the 5 miles of an airport in class D airspace, etc. you need to call the control tower for clearance. I use the FAA app to make sure I'm not too close to airports... so I usually don't have to mess with it. (I have and can call in but it's easier on the coast to just get far enough away not to mess with it). The main thing I saw in terms of air traffic was the coast guard patrols. I just stay low and out of the way.. I always make sure to be attentive to listen and watch for any air traffic. My thoughts are - I have a lot more fun flying on the coast (if kind of in an unpopulated area) than I do in a city or near class D where I'm having to keep my eyes on so many things. On the coast I have a lot more space and where I go it is usually low on people so I just don't have to worry about much. It is crazy with all the regulations though and I imagine they will change because people keep doing dumb things with drones.. I hope you enjoy yours though! Keep me updated on what you end up doing!

Actually, it get's pretty involved with some places on the Oregon beaches, like Haystack Rock and other 'nesting' spots, and the park service 'takes no prisoners'.

In a couple of scenes, it appears you are taking off from State Parks..I live a couple of miles from your opening shots and your video is beautiful...Are you Pt 107 qualified, or did you just go and shoot? either way, fantastic work...

Did you control the drone and shoot the video at the same time, or was someone else manning the camera?
@ManCaveTechnology7 жыл бұрын
I was controlling both the drone and the camera. This drone only has one camera but some of the larger ones have a camera for flying and a camera for filming and you can do two operator. This drone can support two operators but I haven't tried that yet. It's all fun and games until I lose it in the ocean! :)
