The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival, which boasts a history and tradition of about 300 years, is said to have begun in 1703, when Lord Okabe Nagayasu, the lord of the Kishiwada domain at the time, enshrined Kyoto's Fushimi Inari in the Sannomaru area of the castle, and held an Inari festival to pray for an abundant harvest of five grains, including rice, wheat, beans, millet, and barnyard millet.
