Hi Techdoctor, this is a great video and everything makes sense. I get exactly the same problem after I installed the Google Playstore. My concern is that I can't get the device to be picked up in ADB (I have tried two Windows 10 computers I have available). The USB driver is installed and is picked up as an 'MTP USB device" in Device Manager. Surely there is another catch within Windows 10 so the device works below ADB? I am close to just buying another device

Thank you for the great tutorial. It is very comprehensive. Unfortunately, this technique only works if the Fire Stick had been previously authorized to link with the computer. If not, you will not be able to open the ADB shell.

I was ready to do factory reset, but because it did not fully booted it did not recognize remote, so it did not work. I have a Fire TV Gen 3 (Pre-Stick. Square box attached to an HDMI dongle). I can see the FireTV logo when I attach it to a TV and provide power, so I assume there is still something there, but the key combo with the OTG to boot into safe mode doesn't work. I also tried connecting to it via adb (Windows and on Linux) and neither sees the device (tried multiple micro usb cables). Any ideas other than sending this back to Amazon?

First and foremost top marks you're the guy always go to see who has hints and tips on anything related to Amazon fire stick. That being said, I recall you saying that people who don't want to lose their content can just do a factory reset. But they're stuck in a bootloop so the menu is not accessable. I do have a old fire pendaant that was stuck In a bootloop and will dig that out of the drawer and give this a shot. I'll update shortly let you know if this worked

My daughters firetv is constantly looping. It is out of warranty and Amazon will not replace it. She said she has not installed anything on it - It just stopped working. I have tried your steps but I cannot see the device when it is plugged in with USB. I even bought a 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable + Power Cable) for FireStick and tried to press CTRL + ALT + MENU + PRINTSCREEN + I on bootup but that did not work. Remote control does not work when I try to press Back + right side of wheel for 20+ seconds to get to reset menu. Looks like that's the end of the road for me and this fire stick :(

Great post - had this issue a few weeks ago and found it to be the flexible adaptor between the stick and the tv. When I changed the adaptor all was good. Just to give another option 👍🏻

Great Job, I'm with similar situation but with different behavior , is not rebooting is just stuck in second screen (1st -amazon logo) , (2nd - Fire Tv ...) , so using the strategy of adb with my device connected , the command adb devices , don't show my device, list is empty. Any idea ?

Thank you soo much it worked! For those on Mac use 'cd /Users/(Name)/(Folder Location)/(Folder Name)/' then once you're in the folder where the adb file run './adb devices' and that should show your device. For every time he says to run a command starting 'adb' use './adb' instead. Everything else is the same, as he says if it doesn't work keep trying it eventually will.

Are you using an official power adapter to power the firestick ? bootloops can also be caused if the device is not getting enough power (eg you are powering from a USB port on your TV)

Great vid mate. You need to interrupt the boot cycle. I simply solved boot loop problem by pulling out power cord that plugs into 4k firestick then plugging power cord back in. You must make sure 4k firestick is still running, don't turn off mains power when you do this or this will not work, 4k firestick must be running. Good luck

Thanks for the help tech doc. I had a new firestick 4k. would just show logo then black screen. With usb hooked to my pc...i went to command prompt and with the file downloaded from your link, I Save the adb files to my desktop in a folder name Launcher. Guys remember this part....you can change directory by then typing cd then space (cd ) ...then drag and drop folder fom desktop and that will open up the directory for you...then follow the doc steps. All I had to do was type reset instead of going through it all. Remember mine was just out of the box, so I did not have to worry about losing anything. hope this helps....thanks doc.

TechDoctor - My 4kstick isn't looping, but I wanted to to go through the steps of your tutorial anyway to understand it. The problem is my Win10 won't recognize my stick. Nothing shows in devices command, and shell command shows "error: device '(null)' not found". I'm stuck at this point. Just wondering if I might need some kind of driver. Hey there, when you plug the device in, windows10 installs the drivers it needs to communicate with the firestick. Did you install ADB from my website tutorial page?

TDUK it seems that, from what I have read here, this is ONLY working for a few people. My PC told me that my FS was not ready, was not authorized. Please make the instructions simpler. All I have is the files that you said to D/L and that is it. The rest of your instructions did not help me since my FS (caught in the loop) is not being seen by my PC. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I cannot get my COMMAND PROMPT to see any of that stuff in your video. I put the D/L you said to D/L on my desktop in a folder called LAUNCHER. After that none of the instructions were useful.

You may need to upgrade to Windows 10(windows 7 no longer supported). Open Device Manager, connect firestick to USB on PC, then you should see mt65xx appear and disappear.... If it shows no driver available. Open "Windows Update" then click on "Optional updates". Download and install the "MediaTek Inc. - Other hardware - MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android)" Good luck!

Best to just call them if you are within the 1year warranty and they will give you a new stick, if not ask for 50% discount, they will give you like they did to me. Mine was 5 years old so didn’t really mind getting the latest one at 50%

I wish this video was available when mine was doing the same over the same 2 apps. I tried everything and nothing would work. I did fix it tho. All I did was plug in to power and not plugged to the tv. Every day I would hook up my small tv to see if it was looking and it was. It took like 4 to 5 days of looping till finally I hooked it up and it was just a dark grey screen. Unplugged from power and back in and Bam it started like new :)
