It's really quite surreal seeing the airport that quiet!

Wow - you are an "early bird" and I can see why you don't drink liquor while flying ($10 a miniature). Your outbound taxi from MCI and especially your inbound taxi at DFW were as long as the flight between the two cities took. Beautiful night scenes of both cities. 👍

Well, at heart I'm a night owl. I'd much rather stay up late and burn the midnight oil than get up early. But sometimes flight schedules require it be the opposite haha.

That was long time to take off. Kansas airport must be huge 😮

Well, it is a big airport but not the biggest. Sometimes you just have a long taxi depending on the winds. Thanks for watching my friend.

Love to watch landings into DFW. Saw an interesting chart appear in my FB feeds a couple of weeks ago -- showed all of the different aircraft in American Airlines current fleet along with how many of each type. American currently has 303 737-800s in their fleet -- incredible! Did a little research and when they flew the MD-80s, they had 383 of them! The airline that currently has the most of one type of aircraft---guess who---Southwest -- 380 737-700s (wonder how many you have flown on).

How do you record night flights without glare from the cabin? They sometimes seem to like to have lights on during part of taxi

seems to me hours of editing

With great difficulty haha. Everything I film with, down to the what I wear and the cable I use to charge my camera are black. This means everything I can control won't reflect. Of course, black is the absence of color and it absorbs all lightwaves. So if everything is surrounded in black, nothing can reflect. This does not solve all the issues though, as the window reflects more than just what you're wearing and what color you camera is. I also keep a black dish towel in my bag and I have a few clip on suction cups that I can put up over the camera if I have to. This solve the reflection problem, but if you hold the camera by hand like I do it causes a new problem. You can now no longer see what you're recording haha. So you better be good at holding steady at that point. Night flights are hard to film for a variety of reasons. The reflection of cabin lights in the window being the biggest one.

@@sla31do you like Boston Logan Airport try flying to Portland Jetport or Manchester Boston
@dehavillandcanadatwinotter9621Ай бұрын
@ wait so I’ve always wondered, do you hold the camera manually or have you found something that sticks to the window? I just filmed a takeoff sequence and landing of a flight I took (might do a trip report kind of thing) and it was hard enough holding the phone steady just for that. I couldn’t imagine doing it the whole flight, especially with the in flight services!

Nope I do not use any type of mount for 98% of what you see on the channel. Even the long flights. All hand held. The reason being that mounts transfer too many vibrations into the camera and distort the footage.

Great fly! Have you heard of destructive wildlife that's ongoing right now in California, including the Palisades Fire which exploded in size caused by extreme high wind as high as 80 mph?
@sla3127 күн бұрын
Yes I have seen all of that. Very sad.

I was watching Plan 9 From Outer Space and now, I'm watching your latest Super-Fantabulous video. Wow... GREAT night views of Kansas City!! You would like Plan 9 From Outer Space because of the scenes on American Flight 812 heading to Burbank. Norma McCarty was very professional as the flight attendant who kept calm during the encounter with the alien spacecraft. And she helped to keep the pilots calm. Note that she was like 36 or 37 when she did this movie, so even back in the late 1950s, some flight attendants were well in their 30s. This was also a zombie flick a full decade before George Romero's famous and seminal film Night Of The Living Dead came out. Anyhow, another fine video on your part, will watch today's General Hospital. I have to see if Michael Corinthos makes it or not out of that huge fire.
