Amazing Full-Flight Footage. Love the spacious overhead bins on the A220 for it's relative size. Another great video!

Did Swiss Air serve Swiss Miss instant cocoa? Kidding aside love flying with Swiss Air pilots always informing the passengers in different languages. Also seeing the Concord at CDG Airport was nice 👌

Beautiful- I’m sure the short flights are a good change of pace from the longer flights. Plus these short flights make it very accessible to go from one big city to the next in a hr or 2.

Man those a220s are quiet! Great video 👍 Although I’m curious, why do the a220s make that weird orca/ whale sound?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
So, the A220's have what are called geared turbofan engines. A geared turbofan engine is a variant of a conventional turbofan engine in which a reduction gearbox is installed between the fan and the low pressure turbine. These types of engines are also used on A320NEO family aircraft. It's that gearbox that creates that howling noise you hear. In the end, it's just another mechanically created sound caused by the engines working properly. It sure makes the A220's and A320NEO's sound unique! Although, the howl isn't as pronounced on the A320NEO series.

@@sla31 thx, that’s pretty cool. The sound is actually quite loud, a lot of times I’ll hear a plane go by to land at my local airport, and I’ll hear that sound, and I know immediately it’s an a220. Every time I hear it, I check Flightradar24 lol

Well, this wouldn't have been my first choice. In fact, I was supposed to be much farther forward on the opposite side of the plane. But, the seat I was supposed to have was broken, so I got moved to this seat. Those that enjoy more of then landscape will like this one though haha.

WOWOWOWOWOWOW!! Good views! Good views of the big cumulus clouds. What bright blue skies you had on this flight. If you ever wondered: how high do you have to go until the sky becomes black instead of blue? The answer is about 13 miles or about 65,000 feet. That's it. Last year when William Shatner did his flight on the Blue Origin spacecraft, he commented on how thin the blue skies were, like a fine, thin mist and then, everything is black. He was right. In tropical places, it may by higher. In higher latitudes, it may be quite a bit less than 65,000 feet. If you go on a U-2 plane at 70,000 feet, you'll see the sky become black. This is called The Edge of Space and at this altitude, the air will kill you as surely as outer space would. Anyhow, here's hoping that you'll get to be a passenger aboard a U-2 plane at 70,000 feet.
@sla312 жыл бұрын
You know, I'd of course, jump at the opportunity to fly that high in a U-2, but unless you know someone I don't it's likely a pipe dream haha. Seeing the Earth form that height would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience though! Even in this age of "commercial space flights" that would still be something to behold. And frankly, I don't ever see myself being able to afford the price of a commercial space flight ticket haha, so a U-2 at 70,000 feet would probably be as close as I could get to space. I'd take it though.

@@sla31 I recommend watching the 10-minute video with James May riding in a U2 up to 70,000 feet. Type in "James May Rides in a U2 Spy Plane" in KZbin and you'll find it. The video is from 2009.

Great fly! Have you heard Israel bans Boeing 747s and other aircraft with 4 engines due to environmental concerns? They do that because they want to reduce air and noise pollution. What do you think?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
I think it's mostly for show... The number of 4 engined planes left flying, even with cargo operations included is minuscule. And if we're talking about air pollution, planes are really a very small part percentage of what causes air pollution. And let's face it... It s a 2 engined aircraft really that much quieter than one with 4 engines? So, I think that's basically pointless, and like I said, for show.
