Yes. We have a great local meteorologist that I follow during weather events who truly loves his job and keeping people safe. Even at the expense of his own safety. As we saw last night when a tornado formed just east of where I live and began heading straight for the television studio. He forced everyone else to take shelter as he continued broadcasting. He's been a staple in the community for as long as I can remember and we're lucky to have someone like that who cares so much for the people and communities in the area. All we ended up getting was some brief high winds of like 40-50mph.

It was definitely a good few bounces. I'd say it was probably moderate turbulence at worst though. It wasn't anything that would've caused and loss of control which is one of the hallmarks of true severe turbulence, but regardless, it definitely threw some people off a bit. Glad to have you my friend. I do not upload directly from my iPhones. I film with the iPhones, and as soon as I get home from a trip all the footage gets transferred to my editing computer, which is a 2020 27” 5K iMac. It has a 4TB solid state drive, I think a 10 core processor. Could be 8, I forget that one. And then it has 64GB of RAM. I didn’t edit all of the footage on that computer in Final Cut Pro, where it is then uploaded to KZbin.

If united had more airbus a320s and they had the a320neos instead of the maxes ☠️, I'd be happy to fly with them. I am not fond of American airlines either but when I fly with them and it's an airbus a321 or Boeing 787, I am always happy about that.

I too wish United had gone more Airbus sooner. I find the A320 series to be far more comfortable to fly on than the 737 series. That 7 inches of extra cabin width sure makes a big difference. I don't dislike Boeing or the 737, just prefer the A320 as a passenger.

That my friend, is the famous Airbus A320 PTU or "power transfer unit." So, there are tons of fail-safes and backups in aviation. Pretty much every system an aircraft has, has some backup system or fail-safe that can perform the same job as the primary system in case of a failure. It's just like having two pilots in the cockpit, to help provide checks and balance. The PTU is part of the aircraft's hydraulic system and it's notoriously loud on A320 series aircraft. The PTU is effectively the hydraulic system's fail-safe. Aircraft have more than one independent hydraulic system to ensure hydraulic pressure is never completely lost. The PTU comes into play if one of those independent systems experiences a drop in pressure, the PTU's job is to kick on and fix that drop in pressure by providing a controllable link between those independent systems. The reason why you hear is during the this phase of the flight is because only one of the aircraft's two engines are running. When only one engine is running there is a drop in pressure in that engines hydraulic system compared to the rest of the aircraft. So the PTU automatically kicks on to make sure all the hydraulic systems have adequate pressure. Once the second engine is started, everything then equalizes and the PTU kicks off. You'll also often hear the PTU kick on after landing when one of the two engines are shut down. It's just very loud on the A320 haha. Many people do think it's a dog in the cargo hold haha.

I'd be happy to explain. KZbin limits titles to 100 characters, so I have to get a bit creative to get all the info in there. Let's just break this one down so you can see for others what each section is. [4K] - Full Flight - United Airlines - Airbus A320-232 - DEN-ONT - N430UA - UA430 - IFS 860 So the first 4 sections are pretty obvious right? "4K" is simply the resolution, "Full Flight" is that it's a full flight, "United Airlines" is the airline, and "Airbus A320-232" the aircraft type. Those are pretty self explanatory, but it's after that where it's gets to be a lot of abbreviations. So first, on the Aircraft part. In this case "Airbus A320-232." Obviously that's the aircraft type, but I get a lot of questions as to why the last two numbers change from flight to flight. And the answer to that depends on the aircraft manufacturer. Airbus changes the last two numbers to identify which engine type the aircraft is fitted with. So, in this case the A320-200 is a A320-232 indicating that it is equipped with International Aero Engines IAE Model V2527-A5 engines. There is a directory you can look at on wikipedia for every code for Airbus engine variants. For Boeing aircraft the last two characters indicate which airline ordered the aircraft and who it was originally delivered too. Boeing calls these "customer codes." For example, Southwest Airlines' Boeing customer code is H4. So when you see a title that says Boeing 737-7H4 it's listed that way because it was originally ordered by and delivered to Southwest Airlines. Now, planes get sold sometimes, but their codes don't change. So if you see a Southwest Airlines flight and the aircraft says 737-7CT you know that plane came from another airline. CT is WestJet's code, which means at some point Southwest bought that aircraft second hand from WestJet. There is also a great wikipedia page for all Boeing customer codes too. And then Embraer and Bombardier don't have any special codes like that. After that, is where it really starts to get abbreviated though. After the aircraft type is the city pair or the two airport codes denoting where the flight is heading from to where it's going. In this case "DEN-ONT." Since the FAA, IATA, and ICAO (three large aviation agencies) all have widely accepted airport "codes" already in use, those are the easiest thing to abbreviate to save space. They're all three letters and widely accepted in the aviation community. In this case DEN is the code for Denver International Airport and ONT is the code for Ontario International Airport. Putting DEN-ONT sure saves a ton of character space over Denver International Airport to Ontario International Airport haha. But, I know that not everyone is familiar with these codes, so if you ever aren't sure what one is, just check out the description. Next to "City Pair" I list the city and state that is associated with that code. So in this case Denver, Colorado and Ontario, California. I list that info with the corresponding code so you'll be sure you know which is which. After that is "N430UA" which is the aircraft's tail number. That's the easiest way to look up a specific plane. Each aircraft registered anywhere int hew world must have a tail number. What the tail number starts with denotes what country the aircraft is registered in. Each county around the world starts with a different letter/number. For example, all United States registered aircraft start with N. Canada is C and so on. Again, Wikipedia has a great list of all countries and their first tail number digits. Next is "UA430" which is the airlines two letter code and flight number. In this case it made it a bit confusing that the tail number was N430UA and the flight number was UA430. Not related, just a coincidence they were the same number here haha. UA is United Airlines' two letter FAA code and 430 was the flight number United assigned. The last portion of the title, which in this case is IFS 860 is purely for me to use. It's how I keep track of what I've posted and what still needs to be posted. This was "The Inflight Series episode 860" aka, IFS 860. So you really don't need to worry about that at all. Every single one of my 860 full flights has this same exact info in this same exact order. So, now that you know what is what, that should help you identify everything when looking at them. A quick question, is there any particular reason you use an iPhone to record your flights as opposed to a GoPro, which many aviation youtubers use?

Yes. I film with iPhones because their cameras are simply better. GoPros are great action cameras, but being designed as "action" cameras means they suffer in other areas. The largest being their single "infinity focus" lens. GoPros have one lens designed to fit every aspect ratio. And when you do that, you lose a lot of sharpness, definition, and overall quality of the final picture. On the other side, iPhones have three lenses, each designed to perfectly fit each camera. Meaning they have way better overall picture quality. The downside is they aren't action cameras. And where the GoPro handles vibrations like a champ, even the smallest vibrations will distort iPhone footage. So they each have their ups and downs, but ultimately I want the best quality footage possible.

Denver can be very bumpy flying in and out. I've had some hair-raising rides in Reno, Vegas, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City too.
