Only people that have played Forza Horizon 3 in 4K with HDR will know just how beautiful this game is. I took some screen shots using Xbox One X and when i looked back at them i was amazed at how good and almost real some of them looked. The City at night in 4K HDR where the Horizon Festival is just so good damn good to look at.

Check out the official Forza forums and the "Forzatography" subforums. It's amazing, both the visual fidelity the Forza games have, but also the ability players have to capture jaw dropping screenshots. You can spend hours looking at the various galleries.

I think the same credit can be given to high/ultra settings on PC with many games though. It really is quite impressive looking at modern racing games and even things approaching closer to a "sim" experience like Asseto Corsa, taking still frames and then having people honestly look at your still frame and question whether it actually came from a videogame or not.

GizZy GizMo HDR really makes a HUGE difference in this game, especially in the city. Buildings and skies looks like real in HDR

The shortage at the moment is because of GDDR5 and HBM2 production problems, not because of mining (which is migrating to ASIC). PC has HDR support, so not sure what you're talking about.

Eddie Brock It was nice that they brought up 60fps. The guy from Playground kinda danced around it. It seemed like he thought it was possible though. I don't even own an XB1, or One X.But, I hope that a 60fps option becomes available. It'd be really great if all devs (especially those working on One X, and Pro) focused on graphics, and performance modes like Crystal Dynamics did with RoTTR.

I have a 4k TV with chromecast ultra and an Xbox one, but neither seem to be reporting HDR output. Normally my TV will signify if it's received HDR video, but not for this one. Any recommendations for the best way to get KZbin HDR videos to playback in HDR on TVs? Thanks!

paccacio 29 Some of it is the studio. Some of it (arguably more) is the tech. The Forza Tech Engine deserves a lot of credit here too (alongside Turn10/Playground) for being so malleable to tweaks and upgrades, and also for its ability to scale down beautifully to the base Xbox One (haven't seen it on PC low/medium, so I can't speak for those).

I usually ignore trolling comments, but all these 30fps comments are starting to urk me. Most people have no idea how open world game development works, and don't have the common sense or forethought to do a Google search. Open world games hit the cpu hard, all the draw calls and npc's and what not. This is why most AAA open world games are 30 fps on console, even the mighty X still has a shit cpu. U need a PC with half way decent specs to get 60fps. Yes I agree, 60fps is preferred, especially in a racer! But with a rock solid frame rate and perfect frame timing, Horizon is a joy to play. Even at 30fps. Most people don't realize how important frame timing is, and how many games screw it up. 30fps with perfect frame pacing is absolutely better than 60fps if the frame pacing is all messed up. Sorry, rant over ;)

DarkReturns at the same time 60 fps running 4k only existed running top end cards in SLI just a few years ago. I game on PC at 90 fps using a 1070, but not only is it only 1440p, I still have to turn down settings to get to that 90 fps. I've said before I think it's interesting 99% of gamers out there will experience 4k on console before they would have on PC. What they've accomplished with the 'X is pretty amazing. Most of the criticism comes from insecurities. We are in the age of insecurities.

Jason The Gaming Avenger In most cases I've heard straight from devs the 'settings' are equivalent to the highest compared to PC. Tomb Raider is one example, so not sure where you are getting 'medium settings which is still higher settings than Xbox', or did you just magically pull that out of your ass.

Van Dammage it's not like devs lied about the power of the X before. Besides this is an MS first party studio so they can't really diss on the console, but anyone who watched even some of the many analysis df have done can see that it doesn't hit 60 fps in open world games. Witcher 3 drops frames even at 1080p.

I hooked my pc up to my 1080p set (normally play at 4k) and played this and, tbh, it still looks glorious on a native 1080 tv. The upgrade to 4k is very much overblown imho and a jump to 60 fps would have been more notable (though horizon games still look very good at 30fps!).

Awesome. I cannot wait to see what Playground Games (and Turn 10) will be able do several years down the road with the *next* Xbox platform, which is practically confirmed to already be in some stage of development. Whether Microsoft targets 2020 or 2021 is up to them, but its great to know the Xbox team did such a fantastic job on the Xbox One X development kit. FH3 and FM7 are both awesome games and well worth owning an Xbox One X for!

I never quite understand why they opt to upgrade graphical features in a game PAST whats available on pc and don't drop them updates into the pc game - knowing theres hardware out there that can achieve them. They did the same thing with gears of war 4, update the textures for the xbox one x and left the pc alone, pc version may still be the superior version and I can do 60fps 4k quite nicely with a 1080ti with both games but I still would like to see these updates applied to both versions, we all pay the price for the game especially when its through windows store!

UHD Gaming PC, that’s just dumb. Issue on most PC is trying to get poor cpu to try and hit 60 FPS bottlenecking good graphics card. This is why pc gaming is awful, to much messing around.

Parramaniac thats simply not the case and most modern mid to high end cpu's pose no bottlenecking at all, i run a brand new gtx1080ti with an i7 from 2014/15 (4790k) and have no such issues with bottlenecking, 60fps especially is even less of a bottleneck because it requires locking of the framerate which in most cases takes strain off the cpu as they are not run to high fps counts. As for the messing around - well i have no idea what you mean, if you buy a good gaming pc there is no messing around its almost as plug and play as a console, i use my pc next to my couch with an assortment of different controllers and a keyboard and mouse if i wish, all while keeping the couch comfort and i also have a flip out 160hz 27in gsync monitor that takes advantage of my expensive graphics card. If you mean too much messing around as in hardware issues well like i say there are no issues, most games set themselves to settings they think suit your hardware so you can turn it on and play with no worries, having options to play with is not messing around its just flexibility.

It's a cross play title, which effectively means at any point online you could be playing against PC players, so just make an option to dial the visuals back a bit for better performance. Nico Kops The assets were already in the game itself. The patch is to give the system the right information to run the software correctly. XOX hardware isn't exactly the same as XO/S not as simple as PS4 to Pro. XOX uses different hardware not just more capable hardware with a few new (but unused tricks). This isn't that hard to do when you already have working code, profiling tools and tons of experience under your belt... But Hey what do I know?

The GF doesn't care much about racing games but I fired up the demo (yes the demo runs at 4K & HDR) and she couldn't keep her eyes off the TV. It's probably the best looking console game to date.

I see what playground games are doing. They are opting to not to do 60fps because they will have that for Forza horizon 4. So that game will feel even more amazing. Makes sense.

Next batch of games will have X as the lead platform, dx12 optimized and not just quick enhancements of older games. Exciting! Meanwhile Pro games are 1080p in 2018

For someone who hasn't played a forza game since the mid Xbox 360 generation which game would anyone recommend me to play on the X1X horizon 3 or forza 7 such is more fun. All opinions are welcome.

Both are fantastic and stunning games. More fun I'd say you'll have with FH3, as it is open world and you can cruise and discover the world on your own pace. Where as Forza 7 is only on racetracks, so this is more about competition and being the fastest.

I typically recommend Horizon before Motorsport. Everyone loves Horizon. It's open world. There's a story mode. Radio stations. It's really been the modern replacement to Need for Speed. Naturally, that appeals to a much wider audience. Motorsport (I have 5/6/7), for the most part, for the most dedicated players who care about real world tracks, the smallest details and realism (Horizon maintains a lot of this as well). Racing hundreds of cars across the same 15 or so tracks over and over. Which, I personally enjoy. But, gets old fast for people not fully invested.

Thanks to both of you for replying and then some. That's the exact info i needed to make a decision. I will probably get horizon 3 and after playing that for a while I will get motorsport 7. They both looked good and I didn't know where to restart and I also wanted to enjoy my X1X. I've been mainly playing Gears 4 on insane and halo 5 on legendary because of there patches and I'm glad to say they both look great. Now I have two more games to look forward to that are more photo realistic.

Yeah the game LOOKS great, I just downloaded the X version, I wouldn't say it's miles ahead of the normal game though. Also yes it plays EXACTLY the same. Very sharp though, that's about it.

No there is not a huge difference. Resolution increase is impossible to notice unless you are within a certain viewing distance. I sit 11ft from my TV so anything above 1080p is not noticeable to the human eye.

Interesting. So 30fps was a stylistic choice and not because it had to be? Very interesting. I never once thought that 30 could be more appealing than 60, though in hindsight, if you ever watched a tv show that had a high frame rate it does look a bit weird in some indescribable way. But I'd still like to meet this game at 60

graphically, the game looks unreal, but 30 fps on a racing game will make you feel dizzy sometimes.

I still come here , i find pc guys commenting on console forums , when i myself own everything. But my question here is how can you compare a 1000+ pc with a 500 console , and now days with the crypto mining thing going on you cant even find a gpu at a decent price.

Which console doesn't have the power to run games in native 4k? Because both the PS4 PRO and XOX can run "some" games in native 4k. The Division is native 4k on PS4 PRO. Same with Wipeout, NBA and other titles. Neither console can do true 4k on "all" games though.
