Love this video! I lived in Reno years ago and this brings back so many memories. I was heartbroken when Harrah’s closed. Virginia Street seems so deserted compared to how I remember it in the early 90’s. It’s nice to see the muscle cars still cruise Virginia Street though.
@WalkingAmbience Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yeah, it is totally different than visiting in the early 2000s for me. I remembered it a lot livelier.

Down town still gets packed, just certain days. The city has grown tremendously, a lot more to do all over town. Cruise nights and festivals are when it’s the best time to be down there. You can barely walk. To be honest, down town Reno needs a face lift. A lot of places are getting old. Need something that grabs people’s attention.

I lived in Reno from 1978 to 1985. I worked in the (then) Hilton hotel casino one summer before heading off to college. I had a great aunt who worked in Harold's club in the 40's. Sad to see it and Harrah's closed. Almost did not recognize the area around the arch. (sigh) Thanks for sharing your walkabout. 🙂

No problem. Thank for stopping by. Yeah, the area by the arch is so different now than before.

Although it can be very hot, Nevada is a desert with extreme highs and freezing temps so don't forget to bring at least a jacket. Tourists are sometimes caught off guard at night when it can get freezing. And yes, it sometimes snows at night in the winter months.

You should do another walking tour when there's an event when they close Virginia St, like during Hot August Nights, Italian Festival, Brew & Wings Fest, Chilis Fest, Bar Crawls, Halloween night, etc. Also film inside the casinos.

I will try in August this year. Haha I got kicked out for trying to film inside the casino there. My large setup sticks out like a sore thumb!

Reno was at its glory during the nineteen eighties when both sides of Virgina st had big busy casinos and security kept the streets safe and kept the bums out of the casino areas I worked at Eddies Fab Fifties, Cal Neva in Tahoe and Reno, and the River boat ONLY the Cal Neva Reno is still here SAD, its much more dangerous now and boring walking Reno's streets

Is Reno always this dead? Seems like a lot of potential but hardly anyone walking around.
@WalkingAmbience2 жыл бұрын
Inside the casinos were pretty busy. Most of the people just park in the parking garage and walk across the parking bridge directly into the casinos. The streets are usually pretty quiet because everyone just drives around instead of walking.
