中国出身ですが、大学時代では京都北区に四年間以上在住しました。十ヶ所の中で、八ヶ所に訪れたことがあります。それ以外にも日本の美を表せる寺院がいくつかあります。立命館大学近くの等持院やきぬかけの道に沿って進み、妙心寺、龍安寺、仁和寺、大覚寺が待っています。そのまま更に進めば、嵐山にある天龍寺もすぐ目の前に。毎回訪れるたびに、心が癒されます。あるいは、ゆっくりと、自分の人生を振り返え、これまでのことや、これからのことを考える心の余裕ができます。言葉は一斉要りません。心でこの美しさを感じるのです。もう、政治なんか紛争なんか考えたくない。心の聖地にはこういう余計なものは要らない。床に座り、新緑のお茶を味わいながら、「やっぱり...こういう日本が好きなんだ。」と心から感服します。また、いつか日本に行けたらいいですね。

In October 2016, when I was 72 years old, I finally traveled to Kyoto, the old capital, and spent a wonderful week wandering through its temple gardens. I saw perhaps two-thirds or more of the gardens in this video, which gives only glimpses of most of them, but the scenes depicted are lovely and the music complements the video nicely. I have watched it many times, and will watch it often again.

I have been to many of those incredible gardens and temples, but always in November when the maples leaves are fully red. It is like a beautifull dream. Yes, Kyoto is the most beautifull place on earth, especially in autumn. Cant wait to get back there when the pandemic is over and lets me enter Japan again.

I have been in US almost 40 years from Japan. I miss these beautiful Japanese temples and gardens. I visited some of them but I would like to visit more temples. In particular I would like to visit Saihoji. I visited Katsura-Villa several times but not Saihoji. This video makes me very happy in mind.

During this shutdown I really wish that I could be in Japan to view Kyoto and Kamakura without so much foot traffic. This is a great video and I've been to every garden here except Murinan Garden. Tofukuji is probably the best view for all of the gardens it has--incredible grounds. You did overlook Sanbo-in in the Daigo-ji temple complex--which has one of the most amazing gardens in Japan. That temple complex is incredible as well. Also, seasons affect which garden could be "superior" to others. I had the fortune to visit Sanzen-in during the Autumn in 2016. Watching leaves fall into the pond of Shuheki-en Garden was one of the more memorable moments of the 5 times I've been to Kyoto--all of the older Japanese were audibly gasping as swaths of red and gold leaves flew with a breeze through the garden and onto the pond. Of course Eikando and Nanzenji are stunning during the Autumn and lit up at night. Japan is a place where you could travel strictly for nature and temple viewing, together, and never run out of places to go, or be bored with returning to those places. I'm a Kamakura junkie and will never tire of going there countless times when I am in Japan.
