In this video, I take you on a 4K, HDR journey, along the Thames Path, exploring the picturesque stretch from Chiswick to Hammersmith Bridge. This is a beautiful walk, though a little different from the bustling central, yet still has the balance of greenery, peace and tranquil views, with the energetic vibes from the famous pubs. I begin from the prosperous area of Chiswick, a more quite and historic part of London, through the ancient Chiswick House and Gardens, mansions, through to the stunning views of iconic landmarks such as Chiswick Pier and the historic Hammersmith Bridge.
Chiswick 🏡
Located in West London, Chiswick is an affluent riverside area. As a former fishing village, the district sits above the River Thames, and though a quiet area, it offers a lot of upscale stores, independent eateries and historic gardens. It also has an enticing mix of attractive period properties, famous breweries, and generous green space.
Chiswick House and Gardens ⛲️
A magnificent example of 18th-century British architecture, this Palladian villa designed by the third Earl of Burlington in 1729, is renowned for its symmetrical design, elegant proportions, and classical elements such as Ionic columns and a grand domed rotunda. It is surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens, influenced by the Italian Renaissance. Featuring lush lawns, winding pathways, ornamental ponds, an array of statues and architectural follies, including the Ionic Temple and the Cascade.
Hammersmith Bridge and Riverside 🌉
An iconic architectural landmark, designed by Joseph Bazalgette is renowned for its elegant design and historical significance, being the only bridge of this design in Britain. The Thames Path also features famous places such as the house of King Charles II’s mistress, London Corinthian Sailing Club, Chiswick Mall, boats, famous breweries and ancient pubs such as The Rutland Arms, The Blue Anchor, The Dove and even a flooded road.
