Agree on Fan. Ma has a poor back hand in comparison to Fan. No comparing the two in back hand. But Ma's backhand has improved over the last year, before it was even worse.

Without a massive improvement in his backhand Ma Long is unlikely to beat Fan. He plays almost every shot to Longs back hand as he almost always misses one fairly quickly.

So sad seeing Ma long getting overpowered in most of the match, he missed also some decisive straight shots, this would've never happened 3 years ago. I believe is time for him to step aside so we could remember him when he was the most dominating force in table tennis for almost a decade.

This means that you can hit the ball a bit earlier, so you can stand closer to the table. So has become less effective to go for a playing style that focuses on spin and arc.

@@zhangming5792 you can but it doesn't force you to change and you don't change unless there's a risk if you don't. The ball being bigger and less rotation gives it more control and easier to drive which is what they were doing in 2016 and 17 it was a player that was giving the top Chinese players a hard time that forced the change.

No rallies. The average was about 5 to 6 shots. Mad respect for their skills but i wonder is table tennis a tiring sport . I mean do you need extreme stamina for this sport

Ofc you do, it's just that they're playing it at a very high speed, which includes various difficult techniques. If you look at casual tt it's quite obvious that you would need a lot of stamina.

Ask ITTF why they removed best of 5 with game point of 21. Just for top spin, need practice swings for hundreds times by using 3 to 4 times heavier racket than actual racket they use in the real match. I for one from 3rd world country used to practice with country champ to improve my spins, to improve his chop defense; like J.I.S from south Korea. Kept striking with top,side,combined spins,but the ball never failed to bounce back to my court. 15 minutes later, that was me to ask him for a break to drink juice,to massage my wrist, forearm,arm,shoulder , to relieve heavy breathing, to wipe out sweat from racket,my body, to put on new shirt,to retie pants,shoelaces. The worse nightmare was reading his serves.I got the handicaps;started with 15;0. No need to guess who would win. happy memory

Viewing rom this angle is great. The players know which angle to set the camera so the spectators will get the best enjoyment, while watching the matches. On the other hand, WTT knows which angle (up in the ceiling, sideview) to set the camera so the sponsors will get the best bang for their money, at the cost of the spectators. This is shameful! We call this willful ignorance.
