In today's Japan Walking Tour video, join me for a relaxing walk along the streets of the suburbs of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
This is a very modern neighborhood in Nagakute city, about 20 km from downtown Nagoya.
Nagakute is a fairly new city in Aichi Prefecture (about 50 years). That is why Nagakute can be considered a very modern place. The roads are built very wide, the house structure is quite new and European style.

A house like that in Japan is very expensive, for the same price but you can buy a bigger house in America.

The land sizes of the houses built in the suburbs of Nagoya look wider than those in the Tokyo suburbs. In the suburbs of Nagoya it will probably be from 200 to 260m2 while those in the suburbs of Tokyo will be 120~165m2. The reason why they are so different is that the suburbs of Nagoya has been developed for housing in 80's to 90's The city planner has secured a certain size of a plot for each house. TheTokyo suburbs has developed in urban sprawl without planning after world-war II.

The smart houses of Nagoya seem more homely than the smart houses of Tokyo from what Ive seen. Tokyo is full of granite and glass blocks ?

I live in the suburbs of Yokohama, a large residential area which is located 40minutes commuter train ride from Shibuya, Tokyo. The scenery looks almost same as the suburban Nagoya.

I have seen many of these videos and I wonder why the inner streets of these cities are so empty...like rarely any person is seen on these streets ....

In Japan, people only play indoors or parks (except for big cities), besides maybe because of the time I shoot the video, at that time everyone was working or going to school, so the street looked empty. looks better than usual.
