We recently noticed that Momentous, a Nighttime Spectacular wen through quite a few pyro changes and decided to put together a little side-by-side comparison for you all.

Thank you for making this pyro comparison video! I usually have to my own side to side from opening month to most recent fireworks show to see the differences. As said about Disneyland Forever lowering their pyro from the original run in 2015-2016 to the recent 2019 and 2022 versions. I've seen this with Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom as well, with the original 2017 version having the best pyro then getting less as time went on, I'm pretty sure the new version will have even less pyro but across all Disney Parks of the 2023 fireworks shows that I've seen that there's way less pryo, mostly short bursts and increasing reliance on projections and music for the majority of the shows. Anything in the first shows in the original run version of the fireworks are the best versions in current Disney especially 2015 to 2019 shows, when the company had more money to spend on fireworks pyro. I still enjoy watching the original Momentous in July 2022 as the best and most magical version of the fireworks show.

Apparently, the word was they had to work around the World of Frozen construction & also supply chain issues. Hopefully they go back to the full complete version now that World of Frozen land is complete. I know that on the HKDL website in the past it mentioned which nights they did do the full complete version

I've always wanted to see a comparison since they changed it since it's debut. The newest one feels lacking to me since I almost know every original pyro cue due to constant watching haha.

To be fair I find the Feb 2023 version better because I can see the castle a lot better than the July 2022 version IMO

Disneyland Forever already also had similar pyro cut between the original 2015 debut and the 2019 and 2022 versions, which the two versions recently were less castle pyro but more small sized fireworks. For Momentous, i think the original 18 June version were far better than recent versions.

I feel like they should remove the pyro instead because it feels very unnecessary in this version. I hope when HK Disney gains more profit, there will be a higher quality of pyro used in this nighttime show. But for now, is a massive disappointment to someone who adored this show very much.

I Rather they use back the pyro shortage version of the fireworks than the new pyro one. Feels like they are pushing themselves to bring a show to guests but keep lowering their standards of the show.

If you see what they pull off at magic kingdom again now post-COVID, I’m sure they can do the same in Hong Kong. Sure it’s harder to get fireworks to Hong Kong due to regulations but it’s so much less than in the US parks. Right now this just feels like Ignite the Dream all over again… cutting out more and more fireworks and the remainder of the fireworks are less spectacular and have a shorter airtime.

@@HongKongDisneyGeek Yes but those fireworks you see coming from the castle are about 85 dollars each. It’s really not gonna make a difference if they cut out one or two or keep them. We’re talking about maybe a thousand dollars difference, it’s nothing for Disney.

After watching this, it kinda feels sad that these downgrades has to happen at almost all the parks around the world. I mean I understand that it's not really sustainable to always use the original design and amount of fireworks every day for years, but I wish they just adjusted the fireworks better so that it can still have the same impact and effect while actively trying to lessen the fireworks throughout its run. Momentous is a projection-focused show, but the small amount (compared to other shows)of pyro did help enhance the whole thing. Now that they reduced most of it and replaced other effects with simpler ones, kinda disappointed that when we do travel to HKDL on April, this is the version that I'll experience instead of the debut version that I absolutely loved. Lesson learned, try to watch new nighttime shows as early as possible or else you'll get worse versions the longer you wait.

idk, it seems like since like early september they’ve added some of the fireworks back (me who went to disney 3 weeks a row + once with the exclusive closer view) though, overall i think it mainly just matters on the day you go 🤷‍♀️

Btw if you want to talk about really in details, i saw the finale where its supposed to haaaahaaaahaaaahaaaaa there should be 4 identical flares but now theres only 3 and the last love the memory shot, which shoot up high in the sky should have 2 white flares coming from two sides of castle but now there is rainbow flash coming out from the castle, i think you should go and record again bc that is actually a new version but not exactly the premier one🤔
