It's interesting to see that Moscow buildings are anything, but grey. There are colors everywhere, which makes Moscow's landscape a unique spectacle. I am pretty sure there are boring neighborhoods as well, what big city doesn't have one? But central historic part of the city is indeed a sight to see. I think Moscow deserves more publicity as a destination for international tourists, but then again - the crowds of the tourists tend to ruin everything. This is what the Western European capitals used to look like before they were ruined by the global economy, popular culture and omnipresent tourists.

Yes, sure there are grey buildings. Particularly many of them were built during the late Soviet era. Many residential, or "sleeping" districts in Moscow, as we call them, still look pretty much the same - similar typical buildings, absolutely boring architecture, or rather the lack of it. The reason for this was that many of these buildings were built during the time when people started to move from villages to cities very fast and they needed housing, so residential buildings became kind of "mass-produced commodities". One day we will shoot a video to show what regular residential areas in Moscow look like -)) Lately the architecture in Moscow has become more diverse again. Most new buildings have at least some style, even though they are not necessarily top class architecture. In suburbs, however, developers still build a lot of typical ugly tower blocks which is very sad. As for crowds of tourists, you are right in a way. Before the closure of borders there were quite many tourists in Moscow and all popular places were way too overcrowded. Not good for those who would like to actually explore the city.

The painting habit goes back to the medieval Russian tradition to paint the walls of churches where each color would have the meaning of some religious event - the red and ocre meant the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the blue colour would mean the Assumption, I don't remember quite well but you can look up for the relevant information if you're interested. This tradition was transferred to the painting of civil buildings.

@@user-rn7gd9mw7q Wow! Thank you for sharing this knowledge. I had no idea, whatsoever, that there was a deep meaning behind the buildings color code in Russia.

@@user-rn7gd9mw7q Interesting! I've never heard about it (that this tradition was transferred to civil buildings), will look it up.

Hi Anthony! I wonder what exactly do you mean? We have never been to the USA, so this is hard for us to make such comparisons. Although we know, of course, that Russia and the USA differ in many ways 🙂

@@MoscowandBeyond4KWalks Hi Moscow and beyond, I have also never been to US or Moscow, I rely on you Tube vids to inform me, I have recently been viewing vids in Democrat cities, names as originally mentioned in comments, the crime, homelessness in tented shelters on the sidewalks and general behaviour of citizens. I contrast this with Moscow, clean roads and sidewalks, clean and attractive buildings, but most of all the citizens appear to know how to behave, interact and enjoy themselves in a peaceable manner. I am impressed with what I see

@@anthonysmith960 Thank you, I see. I have seen such videos of American cities too. However, because many people like posting very negative videos about Russia which make totally wrong impression of our country, I try not to make conclusions about America, or any other country I've never been to, based on videos only. This is often the matter of perspective. In general Moscow is indeed a clean city, not many homeless people here etc. Also you won't normally see semi-conscious drug addicts in the streets. Still if someone wants to find something negative about the city, they can easily do so. There are certain areas populated mainly by migrants, places such as large transport hubs flooded by all kinds of people where one can see drunks, homeless people etc. Of course, these places don't look anything like homeless encampments in America, still these are not the nicest areas either. Also, for example, in early spring when the snow melts, it gets grey or sometimes even black, so streets start looking extremely unattractive. So Moscow may also look very different. In our videos we will try to show different areas of Moscow and different sides of it -))
