[4K] NS Chicago Line - Ohio's Busiest Rail Line | Cleveland, Ohio |

Its a cool, rainy afternoon at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, in Cleveland, Ohio. Today we are in search of something - the Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line. We perch ourselves at Wendy Park, a stones throw from the-then New York Central/Penn Central/Conrail Drawbridge 1. Its a busy afternoon filled with trains, boats, and freighters. We see an ore boat depart Whiskey Island headed for the UP in Michigan. Trains are abundant, almost every 15 minutes- or less.
The line see an average of 90-100 Freight Trains a day, including the Lakeshore Limited AMTRAK.

Wow this is awesome! NS probably runs about 50 trains per day since Covid and all the PSR cutbacks. But its still a busy line!

That bridge is abandoned unfortunately. There is some history on it online

I remember spilling Budweiser all over myself after getting startled by the banging noise of the Conrail freight entering the bridge. This was in 1997 when Cleveland still had a Flats East Bank. It was the last bar right next to the drawbridge. Watermark?

I think the last bar by the bridge was Fagan’s in the Flats.

@@Cleguy7788 yep, drank a lot of beer there in 19 78 and 79....rode the counterweight on the bridge too, my buddy worked at the bronze art foundry across the street from Fagens.....good times
