@@v3insoldi3r85 Yea the twins were good towers. But too be honest they weren’t sturdy. Unlike this building. The only thing that was keeping 5e twins up was the steel beams that’s it. That’s why it collapsed because the steel softened and buckled. The new building has Steel and aluminum I believe bolted together to keep it sturdy.

The tallest building I have ever been in is the Sears Tower in Chicago. I know it is called something else now but I grew up with that name. When I got to the top, I couldn’t get over the view. What was freaky was the glass platform that is attached to the side of the building. You stand in it and look straight down. I know it isn’t the same as being in NYC but I had in the back of my brain, tall building, planes, try not to think of it

While the old ones are iconic as far as the look of the skyline, the new one is a straight upgrade; the building is safer, sturdier, looks cleaner/better, and is generally a more pleasant and freeing atmosphere to be in. The old ones felt like "filing cabinets," and were essentially just concrete/cement rectangles. when they initially finished construction, many New Yorkers disliked the extremely plain design and called them "the boxes the Chrysler building and the Empire State building came in." This one's got a bit more flavor to it, and reflects the 2010s better.

The height makes me feel sick just looking at it so i can't even begin to imagine how those poor souls that had to make the decision to jump on September 11th must of felt looking round seeing life going on below them while at the same time wanting to live but knowing it was the end how horrific

I agree. I've had a similar thought. I feel for all those who had to experience this.
@Noodlyk18Ай бұрын
It's something a lot of people don't consider, but I just wanted to add that the jumpers didn't all make a conscious decision to jump. We'll never know obviously, but while some probably jumped because of the fire, remember that when you saw a couple people at a window, there was a crowd behind them trying to get air, it's likely a lot of them got pushed because of the crowd movement, some also just slipped, tried to climb down, and so on. I don't think it was a conscious choice in most cases, even in the cases where it was, I don't know if I could call survival instinct a conscious choice. Not trying to correct you or be a jerk or anything, I just had this realization while rewatching footage last week, and just figured it could be worth keeping in mind how those poor people ended up jumping.
@williamcody9063Ай бұрын
I recently came to the realization that the people who made the “choice” to jump, only would have done so at the very last millisecond and ONLY if they were 100% certain they were going to die. A healthy mind will not let anyone burn alive. I read a study that stated the air inside the impact zone, that WASN’T directly effected by fire was estimated to be between 350 to 600 degrees. Now imagine being near the fire. People in floor 107 (almost 10 floors above the highest level of direct impact), was stating how hot it was. This whole thing made me realize that these people probably felt relived as they so gracefully fell. One thing that gives me comfort is that falling from great heights in free fall (i have), is that after the first 3 or so seconds, the fear goes away and you feel like your floating. One man said he seen a womans face as she was falling and stated how much she looked at peace!

I was lucky enough to go with a friend in June of 2018…the Pools were/are stunning and cathartic, and the One WTC is sleek and gorgeous. I remember seeing some crazy clips of 9/11 on TV when I was only 10, but I don’t remember much else about that day besides my parents trying to shelter me; I’ve had kind of a morbid curiosity about it; however, my parents-as well as the Internet-later answered some of my questions about what happened that day, and I appreciate their knowledge! I want to return on the 25th Anniversary in 2 years and donate a drawing I did of the new One WTC draped in an American flag-and a world map honoring international victims as well-with the Twin Towers in the background in Heaven. 💔🇺🇸🙏🏽🗽🚕🍎🎭

I can see why some people are anxious about going up there being that a huge terrorist atrocity took place on the site decades ago but you have to remember that the odds of this happening ever again are very, very thin. Airport security is ridiculous now, the building itself is reinforced with a concrete core that’s so thick nothings going through that fucking thing. There are more core fire stairs in place, better emergency exit awareness and huge air con units that are capable of dissipating the smoke away from upper floors, lift engine rooms that are likely strategically in place on different floors to prevent any of them not working in the event of floors being destroyed.
