[4K] New updated RedHead auction scene in Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Florida. What do you guys think about the new revamped redhead scene?
Pirates of the Caribbean over at Disneyland in California is currently undergoing the same change to the Redhead auction scene. It's scheduled to open up again on June 8th, 2018
Last year Disneyland Paris Pirates of the Caribbean has also completed its updated auction scene.

It’s smelled lien perfume but it is from what they used to make the smoke, but if you smell it to much it hurts your nose

I am not sure, because I haven't been on that ride in 17 years, but it looks like there were quite a few changes made since then. I remember the "scary" part differently. The skeleton at the helm was there, but it was darker at that part and there was wind, rain, thunder, and lightning and the voice said something about "rough water" or something like that, then there was a quick drop through a dark segment. That was always my favorite part. Looks like they've made it a little more coddling for little kids.

This ride is one of my favourites at any Disney theme park. I personally like the one in Anaheim better, but Orlando and Anaheim are really good. I just want the que at wdw to be similar to the one at Disneyland

The indication in the Cali version is that the redhead eventually became their queen so it never bothered me as much as it could have, but to me it's nice to see her as a pirate. However I think the better path would be to keep it the same and maybe have some guys captured by female pirates too. That way it doesn't look so much like every woman in this ride's universe is useless.

Yeah I'm a feminist as well and I think it's really stupid to change the redhead scene. It's iconic tbh. I prefer historically accurate over politically correct because as seen here, politically correct and historically accurate don't always get along with each other.

Fun fact: The singing dog At 5:54 is replaced by a different dog breed in the Disneyland Version of this ride. This version of the dog looks like a Golden Retriever puppy, however, in the Disneyland version, that dog looks more like an elderly Cocker Spaniel. Look it up!! I so happen to prefer this version of the singing dog tbh.

Girls think all guys want is to be pervs, but what we really want is... This is kind of like what I want as a guy, "Me and a girl step into the boat, front row if they let us. We anticipate the departure as we hear the safety announcement play in the background. We are a few inches apart and it's just us two in the front row. The ride begins and we stay separated for the first sections of the ride. After the drop and the cannon scene, our hands touch. We gently put our hands together and scooch closer to each other. She gently lays her head on my shoulder as the ride progresses. We remain together like this until the end of the ride, where we step out of the boat, hands still together, and begin walking to wait at thunder mountain!" That's my dream trip to this ride!

No, the Disney World version actually only has one drop instead of two like Disneyland does. And the drop is only 14 feet.

Yeah, it was cool that they kept an iconic character and the structure of the scene rather than just removing it. At first I felt like the items were a weird choice for pirates to bid on (where are they going to put a grandfather clock and a giant painting in their small ship quarters?), but you could ask the same thing about sex slaves (what captain is going to allow a bunch of non-sailors onboard a ship with limited food and space?).

About 15 years ago I had a drunk buddy name of Henry Stiltner decide to jump off and into the water on this ride. Henry hid in there for over 2 hours afore they found him. He was atop some stairs in the dark when they finally seen him. Henry fell as they was trying to get to him and broke his arm and collarbone. He ended up getting $175,000 from Disney over it. I ain't seen Henry in a decade. I suppose he's dead now.

Did they remove the mermaid skeleton? I kind of liked that prop and the mermaid song playing in the background. And like most others, I prefer the original auction scene “we wants the redhead”. It was a classic pirates of the Caribbean scene, the new one isn’t terrible but it is not as memorable either. To be honest the only change I can’t stand is Barbossa still wearing the Royal Navy coat and hat from part 4. I know they are trying to show them accordingly to recent films, but his regular pirate clothes were 10x cooler

That's just hyperbole. There is no bayou in the POTC at Disney World, because the ride was never intended to be a copycat version at the park and the bayou is part of the New Orleans Square theme. At WDW POTC is part of Adventureland so the bayou doesn't fit the theme. And it's actually kind of cool that the queue is made up to look like you are walking through an old Caribbean fort. The only issue I have is that they changed the ride to be about trying to find Jack Sparrow instead of just a story about pirates invading a Caribbean port town.

Honestly no idea why people are so butthurt about getting rid of the bride auction scene. I wasn't personally offended by the scene, but it is true that selling women isn't really "tasteful" these days. It's a kind of symbolic thing I guess. Walt Disney was all about progress, and I'm sure if he were alive today and people were like "Walt, my man. Auctioning off women isn't cool these days" he'd agree. Again, like I said, I wasn't offended by the scene, but it weirds me out how many people are really upset about the change. Like, why do you want to see women getting sold so much? For my friends having a psychological meltdown over a pretty reasonable change, my tiny violin plays for you. I will admit the dialogue in the new scene is cheezy though lol.

Maybe we like our pirates authentic. Pirates didn't auction off clocks and household items - they just took. The auction of women would be something pirates would do. They were not pc. Most were awful. They have changed this ride in so many ways from its original state that it's almost unrecognizable. It's nowhere near as entertaining as it used to be. And definitely not at all authentic anymore.

I was on this ride yesterday and it broke down. We had to get off on the stage and go through the behind the scenes. It was pretty cool and they gave us 2 free fast passes, ice cream and water. Weird but fun..
