Man…..I truly appreciate these videos. I grew up in SA back in the 60/70’s….then work took me away. So much has changed…..yet a lot still looks familiar. It’s no longer the podunk sleepy little town that I (and my friends) used to roam the streets on. Such a great city with so much history….folks have no idea. These videos bring back so many memories of my youth.

I'm glad we could bring you some memories back 🙂. From what I know us that San Antonio grew a lot over the last 20 years and it's still growing fast . You see cranes all over SA. They're building a new 32 story luxury apartment building downtown. I love SA they only thing I don't like is people love to litter . Sometimes it looks trashy outside of downtown.

There were neighborhood gangs back in the 1950s, when I was growing up in San Antonio. But there are no real organized gangs anymore. As compared to such cities as Detroit and Los Angeles, San Antonio is relatively safe. It's true that violence is kept among friends.

San Antonio, like any major USA city, has good and bad parts. Also, like most Sunbelt/Southeast cities, it's incredibly sprawling to the point of absurdity. If you can afford to live in areas like Alamo Heights, you can live a great life. SA reminds me of a mini-Houston (highway loops around the city, development along the loop etc.) ....never been to Dallas so I can't compare it.

San Antonio is changing quickly . No matter where you go there's construction all over Bexar County. From Freeway expansions to expanding subdivisions . Growths over preserving nature. I also like to mention with this constant growths , that we might face a water supply issue in the near future and end up like cities such as Phoenix, Las Vegas. The droughts are an issue .

Yeah, I’ve lived in Austin all of my 53 years of life. But I want to build a second home in San Antonio. Kind of like a Brady Bunch home but bigger. And I only want it to be in Alamo Heights.

@@texastravelers210- we will never have the problems that Phoenix and Las Vegas have. We’re Texans, we’re not weak and dumb !!!!

I moved here from Washington state and what I miss is the beauty of Washington so much nature and weather. San Antonio is so hot and kind of ugly.

Why did you move to SA if you don't like it? If you're used to mountains and woods SA isn't the place you fall in love right away. It's between the desert and swamp. It's hot of course we're close to the Gulf of Mexico. I know people that moved away from WA state because it's constantly overcast most of the time a year , it rains so much and not to mention don't they have a huge problem with homeless people trashing the city ? The political views there aren't helping the situation either.. Sounds depressing to me. Here we can enjoy the sunshine all year long , close to some beautiful beaches where the water gets actually warm compared to the pacific. We do have the hill country right next to us. Texas is huge a lot larger than WA and yes you'll find unimpressive areas too but overall it's a cool place to live because it offers so much.

@@considerthis410 I understand . I'm from Germany and my wife is from SA . I miss the rain sometimes because it doesn't rain here also I miss how green everything is in Germany and I agree it's super hot here as well . I do see a lot of beauty in and around SA too. You just have to look for it. Outside of it you're going to find a lot of undeveloped areas in the hill country.

SA has objectively better weather than any coastal areas of the PNW. Yes, SA and all of Texas gets uncomfortably hot from May until August, but the rest of the year is sunny and good temperature, whereas the PNW is consistently lacking sun, rainy, etc. and has good weather only during the summer. I live in PDX for five years. As for nature, I agree though, PNW beats Texas just like the West beats the East in that respect in general. But San Antonio has nice hills and real hill country within less than an hour drive....just drive north towards Bulverde/Canyon Lake and it looks like a lot of Central California.

Alamo whites as many people call it. It’s a very nice hi-end neighborhood in the city’s Northside. Lots of old money there.

whats your experience with crime and gangs in the city? its one of the fastest growing crime capitals in the world currently

San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the US so you'll hear about shootings almost every day only in certain parts and usually victims and suspect knew each other. You'll find this crime in every other major city but overall crime isn't an issue here in SA. I'm not worried about crime in this city . I feel very comfortable and I'm from Germany where crime rates are low.
