I lived there in the 1980’s but I only recognize Town Hall and QVB, even though I used to drive through Pitt st and George st daily. Way more people too than I remember. I remember the city dying down after 7:00 PM. The underground stations used to be dark, musty and a bit creepy back then. I often was the only guy waiting for a train at Museum station. Nice to see again but greetings from Canada.

@southwest36716 жыл бұрын
EdStar Noneed I used to ride the old 1934 red rattler trains with open doors like a Vietnam war Huey, lol. The world was a different place back then, not just Australia. Immigration took hold anywhere in the western world. The internet fast forwarded everything. People in Zambia see Sydney’s Botanical Gardens and want to go there. Back then, no one knew what another continent looked like. It’s the way technology fast tracked us into the now. I give anything to meet my old roommate once again from 1986 to 1990. I cannot find her but she was a good mate and we got along well. I have great memories anyway. Cheers.

No misundertstandings, where are the Aussies?
@ROCdevelopments5 жыл бұрын
Aboriginals mostly reside in the outback.
@tacitdionysus32205 жыл бұрын
Most of the people being described here as Chinese are probably Aussies of Asian descent (Chinese, Vietnamese, Kymer, Malaysian and so on). Look closely and you will see people of European and other descent. Australians of asian descent are no more unusual than those of Italian, or Greek, or Middle Eastern, or Irish or English descent, just often better dressed and more highly qualified. Put them in a mixed group and most will speak English with Australian accents; certainly once past the first generation of arrivals. People of Asian background are a bit more common in city areas as they often prefer city living, whereas others often prefer suburbia.
