Watch all 22 Festival Queens present their official Festival Gowns at the Sinulog 2025 Festival Queen Coronation Night.
This event highlights the creativity and artistry of Cebu’s finest, with candidates donning intricately designed Sinulog-inspired costumes that tell stories of devotion, heritage, and pride. Witness their talent and poise as they perform breathtaking routines that pay homage to Señor Santo Niño and the Cebuano spirit.
The Sinulog Festival, celebrated every third Sunday of January in Cebu City, is one of the Philippines' most colorful and grandest events. It honors the Santo Niño (Child Jesus), symbolizing the country’s enduring Catholic faith introduced during the Spanish colonization. A common cheer during the festival is "Pit Señor!", a shortened form of the Cebuano phrase "Sangpit sa Señor," which means "Call to the Lord." It is both a prayerful expression and a joyful chant calling on the Santo Niño for blessings.
The term "Sinulog" refers to the forward-backward motion of the traditional dance, performed to the beat of drums, gongs, and trumpets, bringing the streets to life. This grand event traces its origins to 1521, when Rajah Humabon and his people converted to Christianity after receiving the Santo Niño from Ferdinand Magellan. The highlight of the festival is the Sinulog Grand Parade, featuring vibrant costumes, floats, and cultural performances, blending Cebu’s pre-Hispanic traditions with Catholic devotion.
Beyond its religious significance, Sinulog also celebrates Cebuano heritage, artistry, and local cuisine, solidifying Cebu City as the Queen City of the South and a must-visit destination.
