Yes, excellent sound quality indeed. Only minor distortions when facing the big drum heads directly from too short a distance. Watching the musicians, the dancers and the spectators made me happy. Большое спасибо Вам за это, дорогой Rambalac! 🙏🙏

Rambalac has a very unique way of not only promoting Japan but he shows it in such a Great 3rd person format that one Almost feels they are there. Not many 4k walking tours can even rival the hundreds and hundreds of hours of Real Life and Real Feel that Mr. Rambalac delivers. Thank You for the Extremely Gifted work.

Must have been a really sweaty and noisy experience. I think Awa-odori really captures that deep-summer festival vibe. I like watching it with a cool beer and just letting the music and dancing transport me to a Japan without having to endure the 30C. A real summertime treat! And I must say I'm really impressed by the dynamic range of that mic. You get so close to those drums and I cant' hear any clipping and I can still make out a lot of the more quiet environmental sounds at the same time.

Exciting - feels like being a part of the event! Enjoyed to go down the street with the taiko drummers, and to see the parade from various angles and directions - at about 57:00 it felt even like flying above the dancers and viewers 🥰 , you must be a kind of a filming magician 👏😁👍?! Great to see, hear, feel this all - oh, and with the advantage of pleasant temperature in the room, and ice cream ready 😅... thank you so much 😽!

I just saw your update! So sorry for this long comment on the video, but I've been following your account for a while. You seriously got me through the pandemic when I couldn't leave the house (and also couldn't visit my favorite place in the world!) So I wanted to say thank you because you have helped me so much. And reading comments on your videos the last few years, I know that so many other people that I see in the comments are also inspired by you. That's why I subscribed to your Patreon (you mentioned not knowing why people would do that!)... because you have such a great visual eye and curiosity, I watched dozens and dozens of other videos like this walking around the world but this is the only one I subscribed to and still watched. I'm not telling you all of this to convince you to come back, as I hope taking a break helps you figure out what makes you happiest. But I want you to know that you really helped so many people while you were sharing, including me. So I also wish I could help you now in your moment of need! But all I can do is say thank you for everything! You're basically the top auteur for these walking videos and I am grateful for your archive. I'll be thinking about you and rooting for you in your next chapter, whether or not that means you return to sharing your walks again. Loneliness and depression are no joke and it's going to be something difficult to overcome, but you have built an entire community that sees how special and generous you are. And we're all rooting for you! 頑張ってね、Rambalacさん! ✨

Thanks for posting this video. I hadn't heard of this festival even though I've been to the Tokushima Awa Odori twice, and the Koenji Awa Odori. This reminds me of some of the free routes in Tokushima where the crowd is very close to the dancers. Koenji seemed much more crowded than your video of Shimokitazawa, (the night I went to Koenji it was super hot and humid (I think even hotter and humid than normal), and JR had to have traffic control inside the train station because there were so many people getting off the trains).

I got to experience similar event when I was in Japan back in November, and to me, as a Pagan, it was a canon event and a liberating experience because it my heart and my soul I finally felt like I've arrived home and I was accepted and understood on a cellular level. Japan natives might not think much of it, but cherishing and maintaining your "original" spirituality and connection with the gods and nature is so precious and so scarce in this world, that it is, indeed a sort of heaven 🙇‍♀💖💘❤‍🔥
