4K - Vehicle Rollover Crash on SR-133 in Laguna Hills, CA

11.13.22 | 2:58 PM | SB 133 South of Laguna Canyon | Irvine, CA
Around 3PM Sunday Orange County dispatchers were alerted to a rollover crash on Southbound 133 Tollway and Laguna Canyon. Upon arrival, CHP and firefighter-paramedics located a flipped-over Toyota Camry with two passengers that appeared to only have suffered minor injuries.
First responders were told by the driver that she had reached down for a water bottle on the floor and the front driverside tire drove onto the soft dirt causing the vehicle to veer off the road and ultimately flip over. The speed limit on this particular road is 65 MPH and the car was headed toward oncoming traffic also traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver and passenger were lucky to have left the scene with only minor injuries and not been thrust into the opposite lanes of oncoming traffic.
The investigation into the crash is being handled by the California Highway Patrol.

Reaching down for a water bottle and rolling over? Either the driver was likely impaired or a very inexperienced driver. I suspect a higher speed than claimed was also a factor.
