Amazing video, my friend! Your channel is a true gold mine for those who understand the value and enjoyment of traveling autonomously, and seeing things on the ground that go unnoticed from cars or buses. Is it possible to walk to Abusir from the Saqqara pyramid field, without taking a 4 x 4, a dromedary or the other nonsense that is advertised on travel websites? According to Google Maps it seems that it can be done, but the images are quite old.
@oceanq Жыл бұрын
Hi Manuel, thanks for your kind words! Means a lot👍 yes you definitely can walk between all the pyramid fields, there’s a road that borders the desert that goes between them all. You follow canals and the like and the rubbish that goes with it but doable. I like to skip the roads if poss and walk the countryside paths. Much better. Abusir is closed though to tourists. You will have to get someone to take you in there. I was offered a guide once when I was at Saqqara so it is doable. Dashur is still my favourite though!
@manuelmanzanero5057 Жыл бұрын
@@oceanq Thank you very much for your willingness to answer questions, both generic through your videos and specific through your comments. The truth is that I have heard contradictory things about Abusir in recent times: there are visitors and agencies that assure that it is open and others that say just the opposite. There are forums from ten or fifteen years ago (when it was closed for sure) that said that a good way to approach the place without being bothered was walking from the north, from the hotel area of Saqqara Country Club! The drawback is that seeing Egypt on maps or screens is something very different from seeing it on the ground. The ground is covered with thing not so easy to spot from the space: from unexpected ruins, to roaming military patrols, to young tuk tuk scammers and so on xD This is the strongest point, or the most helpful side, of videos like these: they offer a detailed and broad perspective of the place on the ground, being a gateway for the traveler that they would never find on a map or in a written testimony. And I agree, of course: no other pyramid field is a match for Dahshur! We remain attentive to your clips, in Egypt and elsewhere. The world is a big place, luckily.

Why the roads are not paved and poor conditions of cleanliness. I thought there might be some streets that have not been paved but it appears that the condition of majority of roads is bad. Some shopkeepers have sprinkled water on the streets to avoid dust.
