Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is right behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha - it’s a must-see for any first-time visitor to Bangkok. As one of the largest temple complexes in the city, it’s famed for its giant reclining Buddha that is 46 metres long, covered in gold leaf.
It’s an easy 10-minute walk between here and the Grand Palace, and we recommend coming to Wat Pho second because even though the golden Buddha here is just as popular, many people don’t take the time to wander around the rest of the complex, making for a more relaxing experience. Wat Pho is also a great place to get a traditional Thai massage. It’s often considered the leading school of massage in Thailand, so you really are in good hands here.

Wat Pho is one of Bangkok's oldest temples. It existed before Bangkok was established as the capital by King Rama I reign 1782-1809. It was originally named Wat Photaram or Podharam Wat Pho a Buddhist temple complex in the Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is first on the list of six temples in Thailand classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples. The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha. (Phra Buddhasaiyas) and the Wat were built by King Rama III in 1832. The figure is 15 m high and 46 m long, and it is one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand.

Wat Pho is one of the royal temples. But this one is much more down to earth and built to serve the commoners. It's more than two centuries that this place has always been serving as a university that had created so many artisans and medics till nowadays. The place is also the resting place of bones and ashes of each kings.
