I love the A220 “Wookiee” noise! It’s like a Chewbacca airplane 😂 for real tho as someone who travels frequently on short trips I usually go delta because I’d rather do the a220 then the Max. It’s such a nice plane. Plus you have a window in the lav if you’re in coach

It's a comfortable ride as well, especially if you're on the 2 side of 2-3. Definitely prefer it to a 737 or A320.

@@Devyn6Seven The cabin gives me similar vibes of the Delta MD-88-90’s or Boeing 717. Though I will say the MD’s had better cushioning, then the current generation of slim-line seats all the airlines use today.

I flew the 220 for a couple of years. That sound only appears during start or when just above idle power setting. I loved it.

I've been on an A220 a couple of times, and the sound does appear. In fact, I was just outside today, and a Delta A220 was descending above the area, and the whale noise could even be heard on the ground.

Such a bizarre sound. Does anyone else remember the L1011 had a unique sound heard inside the cabin at initial spool up? I won’t forget that sound.

The Rolls Howl has been pretty signature in all of their engines, from Speys and Tays, through the RB211 series and is very present in the Trent spool up.

The "whale sounds" on A220,s is because of the geared engines vs regular turbofan engines. They are more efficient & like most all newer turbofans quieter overall BUT in lower idle & accelerating times its the sounds of the engines changing gears and moving the points of combustion which essentially causes changes in pressure over the combustion cone which amounts to similar physics like blowing over a bottle to make that weird noise like fog horns or train horns.
@BayouBassmaster_top_6
@BayouBassmaster_top_6 4 ай бұрын
That’s true, I looked up what caused it and in the combustion chamber when it is engaged to full power or almost any acceleration from idle the resonance frequency within the chamber causes this phenomenon “whale noise” pretty cool actually

The Airbus A220 might be noisy, but it's a more reliable airplane. How many door parts or tires have fallen off of an Airbus A220?

And one more interesting thing on that Baltic A220: during the closing of the cargo door on the right side, the floor in that place rose and fell several times like a wave very significantly (with a funny sound effect of course). We all noticed it and some laughed at it.

That’s really interesting. I avoid that side of the airplane because of the 2-3 main cabin layout, so I’ve never noticed.

That whale sound should be marked as a big design error. If you live close to an airport you understand why. And flew with this type 2 days ago, its a very uncomfortable noise from the inside as well.
@Devyn6Seven
@Devyn6Seven Жыл бұрын
If it were a design error, the engine wouldn't be allowed to fly.. I live at a final approach fix for AUS and hear them come over all the time. I've also flown on the A220 7x now. Not that big a deal.

@@Devyn6Seven your oppinion doesnt have to be mine, and the other way around. I think its a joke. Airplanes are getting more and more quite, think off the smart groved engine edges on the Boeing 787 and 747-8, and then theres the unnecessary noise of the P&W1000G.
