Benidorm, originally a fishing town, is now the main tourist destination on the Costa Blanca. Located between Alicante (41 km) and Valencia (140 km), Benidorm is one of the most popular options among millions of tourists each year in Spain and Europe. It is one of the largest and most vibrant resorts in the world.
The two large beaches, Playa de Levante and Playa de Poniente, are separated by a rock formation called the "Balcony of the Mediterranean". Mal Pas is a smaller beach below the harbor and castle cliffs. These beaches regularly receive the "blue flag" of the European Union due to their cleanliness. Benidorm enjoys more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year.
