4Runner Fuel Filter Replacement

Swapping the fuel filter on the T4R. Replacing the filter keeps the system running clean and strong and can improve gas mileage. The 4Runner has an in line filter so sediment and debris can easily get captured in the filter making the engine work overtime so it is not starved of fuel.

You can also depressurize the fuel line by removing the fuel pump solenoid. Remove the solenoid under hood.. start the 4 runner until she dies.. this uses up the fuel in line and relieves pressure. I have done this many times on my 06 sport.

I bought my 97 runner with 265K mi on it and i had no idea when the fuel filter was replaced. I replaced it and dumped the old filter and the stuff that came out of that end of was horrendous. Glad I replaced it.

Love your channel...I changed mine at 529k miles. It was actually clean!! I now have 591300 miles not km but miles on the clock now. I disconnected the battery and fuse. Not much fuel leaked

That's what I'm wondering, on rock auto all they offer for my 04 v8 is an inpump style filter.

It would be much simpler to just remove the fuel pump relay than disassembly of the rear seat and carpet!
