My dad has a 72 numbers matching. Been in my family for over 20 years. We just tore it down for the first time ever. Still has everything original. Points and all. Only has 19000 miles. Gonna freshen her up and try to keep it original. But your bike looks great. I really like that paint job.

What brand/model seat do you have on this, looks very comfy.
@4speedfunk7 жыл бұрын
I believe it was a Mustang. It came with a p-pad on it but, I cut it off and added a piece of leather to hide the scar. It has forks under the front, and the only way to attach it was with a single bolt on top of the fender. After I cut off the p-pad...the attaching bolt was no longer there, so I used some industrial velcro on the bottom and stuck it to the frame rails. This worked good and made oil changes a breeze.

I ride my twin cams the same way...just bopping around the back roads. I'm lucky if I get over 3000 rpm too! Where I am drivers get up in your teeth now even on back roads...a bad trend.

I sold my 82 an now wish l had it back....NICE !!!
@rudeawakening3833 Жыл бұрын
I’ve had (13 ) since 1979 , myself . My last 5 years was on my “ best effort “ - 1983 FXWG Wide Glide . The last full production year of the shovel . You and I had of course the 80” , in my humble opinion , Harley’s best efforts up until that time . I owned 6 shovels total . 3-74” 3-80” I always felt that the 80” were far easier to start ( especially kick- starting ) and were all around better running and more dependable machines overall … ( I’m in my 60’s as well - lol 😂 )
@frankgettys327 Жыл бұрын
@@rudeawakening3833 I can agree with that, only mine was hard too kick start. I put a kick starter on mine. I had a 1978 low ryder before that an that was a 1200.
@rudeawakening3833 Жыл бұрын
@@frankgettys327 Very cool ! I also had a 1978 FXE Super Glide . I customized it - and one of the many things that I did was to add a kick - start kit . If you remember ; back then , it usually came “ one way or the other “ . I never really understood that . I have a always had a love/hate relationship with The Motor Company . I believe it would have been to their benefit AND the customer’s , to always have electric start - with a kick - start for a “ backup “ . ( or to impress the fairer sex while at a gathering or a bar ! ) Bla ha ha !

@@rudeawakening3833 l live in York Pa...were they assemble the Bikes. Had family there for awhile. So l had lots of HD motorcycles. At that time family got 20% of new motorcycles. So last count was 14 new HD motorcycles. On a 2017 Street glide special now.

what slip on extensions did you have on the exhaust... and was there any baffles or torque cones in the exhaust?
@4speedfunk7 жыл бұрын
Nothing special...straight 30" extensions with no baffles. It would occasionally burp between gears, or on decel. I tried to convince the wife to convert to single-side 2 into 1 exhaust with a muffler, (I think it would have ran better). But, she insisted on keeping the crossovers and straight pipes. Crossover was a Paugco and extensions were Chinese no-names.

Old AMF Junker. You did a very good job with the upgrades and the paint though. Very Nice!!
@rudeawakening3833 Жыл бұрын
Of my 13 Harleys in a span of 44 years , 7 were AMF . If it wasn’t for “ them “ - there would be NO HD today . It was , in case you didn’t know , the same factory , same assembly line workers , and lower management . But I’m not a troll or being one to get into a debate . I’m just a senior citizen that’s been around and owned a few and from my 1953 Pan , to my 2018 Milwaukee 8 FXLR Low Rider , I just thought I’d share . Peace Out .
