One gallon water, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 beaten egg yolk and put in a garden sprayer. Spray that on your watermelons and pumpkins as a deer repellent. Reapply after rain. If you let a cucumber get too big and it starts to turn yellow that plant will die. Hope your garden recovers.

Brother, you are doing your absolute best despite the odds stacked against you. AJ this is the farm life, you win some and you lose a lot, especially when y’all got a busy schedule. Take what you can get and just know that deer that’s been causing a ruckus is going to end up on the dinner table in due time. Can’t wait for the next garden update! Jack please let us know when you’re sending that deer to the dinner table!

Hey Jack Happy 4th of July 🎊🎉🎈💥🇺🇲. Hey to AJ🤗. I hear the prayer flags work. String them along the fence so the move! Or pinwheels are fun , zip tie them on the posts 👍. Tell AJ for me that it's always a bummer when something goes wrong in the garden , but we have to keep trying🎈. I'm still wishing and a hoping for your magic to happen GROW JACK🤭. JO JO IN VT 💞

you're doing great. it's always like that for us too with our garden. Pluses and minuses. this year we are dealing with lack of sunlight. We have deer too, and squirrels and chipmunks and bears, bobcats and coyotes. it always something. I put up electric fencing around the garden. fingers crossed. I got 1 cuke plant to sprout out of a whole seed packet. I've been sick. It's just been rough.

A possibly helpful hint for your deer problem: deer usually won't jump a fence if they can't see what's on the other side. We put that shade cloth all around our fence and the deer quit jumping over it. I hope this helps because I know what a heartbreak it can be.

Sad about the deer. I had my dog, dig up my seeds and plants. I bought lemons. Cut them up. And put them in the garden. She hasn't been digging. Where the lemon is. I squeezed them, also. Try that. Lemmons

How much grow space to you give your pumpkin plants? My garden isn’t big, but, can I get a pumpkin maybe with 1 plant?

Go to the barber and ask for all the cut hair. Sprinkle the hair around your garden. It will usually keep critters like deer out of your garden.

Sorry about all the deer damage. Once a deer finds food, it will keep coming back and that low fence won't stop it. Get some deer repellant and spray all you watermelon plants today. If you don't, it is unfortunately likely that the dear will keep eating your plants until they are all dead.

God bless y'all if you can get you some Cayenne pepper and dust all around your garden and the plants also there is some essential oils you can get to keep the animals out and you can get some good rich soil and put down over where the damage is done to the vine and it will take root also get some fresh strong smelling cedar mulch and put it along the garden this will help God bless y'all keep doing what you do just saying 😎..

Deer can be a problem for sure. They can jump over a 6 foot high fence with ease. But did you know that they have poor depth perception? They will avoid jumping over two 4 foot high fences spaced 4 to 5 feet apart? They are not sure if they can clear them both or if they will have enough room to jump one at a time. If you stick tree branches into your fence and string the triangle shaped banner flags from them on the inside fence they think that fence is even taller. Doesn't seem to matter if the fence is plastic or metal they just don't want to try to jump inside. My brother has been doing this for years and has only had trouble with rabbits and his neighbors goats escaping and eating his garden. It's a cheaper alternative to building a Deer proof fence and I've never heard of it failing anyone.

I hate to say it, but if the deer keeps causing problems you may have to transform your garden into a prison yard with tall fences and razor wire to keep them out of your plants.
