She makes me want to invest in pastels now......my watercolor years may be behind me. What a wonderful teacher, and what dextrous and painterly 'marks' she makes! Another pastelist uses a trough created by attaching a 2 inch piece of painters tape at the bottom of the paper, bending it up at halfway to create that open pocket.

18:31 Rosemary Clark I don't use fixative. Once the work is finished I get it put through a roller (by my framer) with a covering of glassine to press the pastels into the surface. You could achieve the same thing with a stack of books over a couple of weeks. The work is the framed in general with matt boards under museum quality glass. If I wasn't framing, then they simply get placed between pieces of gatorbord with glassine in between each work and then clipped.

15:08 Rosemary Clark & 17:52 Paula Pratt Brands : I would always have Art Spectrum Extra Soft Tinted Whites (these come in 2 sets - a set of 6 cools another of 6 warms); Sennelier Paris Collection (120 half sticks) for brights and Terry Ludwig Intensified Darks. There's a whole host of others - Unison, Girault, Holbein, Richeson, Roche, Rembrandt, Great American - to name a few - that I regularly use. I've found over the years that as long as I have good lights, brights and darks I can do anything.

40:22 Rosemary Clark Pastel needs to be used upright on an easel so that any excess dust can fall away. See my comment at 18:31 for what I do after completion

What about the pigments being absorbed by your fingers?
@lyndiefenbach78545 ай бұрын
I constantly wash my hands. Some use gloves but I find that I just end up with a glove full of sweat. There is a product called Gloves in a Bottle.

@@lyndiefenbach7854 thank you ever so much - your work is beautiful and I was so inspired by the way you didn’t blend it into oblivion - it was blended perfectly while still having strokes. Thanks again!
