Second-hand Suzuki Every, kei cars, bought from Japan (Fixed and refurnished here) are quite popular in the Philippines. It's small but wide inside and can seat a lot of people which is very good for family-oriented Filipinos, and in navigating the tight streets of the Philippines. When I saw that, I thought of buying one in the future and converting it for myself for solo traveling, though I wish kei cars would be sold outside of Japan as well. A more affordable version, a simple minivan conversion with power (solar), water, a small kitchen and cabinet, a bed with under storage, and maxxair fans or airconditioning - would be amazing. We don't need heaters in the Philippines since it's hot here, we have no winter, just summer and rainy season. Speaking of that - insulated minivans are great for humid conditions brought by the sun and rain. Another good feature to add is a mesh/net to keep insects out for windows and doors but a simple one can easily be made. A great feature to add as well is an awning tent, lights and cameras around the vehicle.

As far as the last van not having a sink, in Japan there are tons of campsites with external sinks, toilets, and showers (and onsens), not to mention tons of public toilets, rest stops, "michi no eki"s (road stations), etc. There's no shortage of ways to survive on the road. And it's not that big of a country so that you'd ever be out of range of civilization. So in Japan, that makes sense. In the U.S. or Australia, it might be a show-stopper. Also, if you are tall (like me) or fat, you could never fit in one of these things. Japanese things are designed for small people. They are clever, but specific.

Most Japanese camping cars come with dedicated stationary air conditioners that run on a separate 12V battery. Depending on the battery’s capacity, the air conditioner can work for 6 to 10 hours without needing a recharge. You can recharge the battery in three ways: using solar panels, the vehicle’s alternator, or connecting to the power grid at a campsite.

Yes, it can be quite challenging for those who are over 190cm tall and above 100kg. Our model host is 182cm tall, so you can get an idea of the sense of space and comfort for a tall person in each of the models shown here.
