Great to see you young felahs enjoying the tracks,we have been doing them since the 80s when we were young and still like going out there,some of us have passed on but we still try to manage to get out there with better equipped vehicles and have fun.

Went to Rocky Track today but wimped out on the rock step you all winched up. Went around that bit but did the rest and it was challenging but doable. Just does not look at all steep on the videos does it. Wasn’t game to really push it on the big step as up there on weight with Sam at 3.7 plus, GVM upgraded, so a lot on the back so didn’t want to risk breaking anything when could take a easier route. Enjoy your videos keep it up, im heading out to visit some of the places you traverse as even after nearly 20 years of 4WD still tons of tracks I haven’t driven.

@TheRaptor1967

Subbed as I also have a 75 Troopy and I like your vids. I like that fact your not trying to prove anything, your just out having fun with mates. :) @17, your mate in his Green Lux needed to drop his tire pressures and he would have walked that. Would have made a massive difference (IMHO). So when are you going to lock the rear diff on your Troopy? Rear diff will be LSD, but Toyota didn't put a decent LSD in the early LandCruisers - dont know about the later ones, but the 75 LSD was shit. 10K from new and they were completely warn out and effectively and open wheel diff. This also means you will need to get hold of an open wheel carrier to put the Lokka in, and its a different size to the front. From memory, rear is 10" diff and front is 9" or 9.5". Just go buy any old front or rear open wheel diff center form a 40, 50 or 60 series. They are all 10" open wheel diffs with 4.11:1 gears. It was the later 70's and on where they changed the front to a smaller diff (I'm pretty sure yours and definitely mine). PS. Keep in mind what I said last week on one of your vids, the hub studs may need to be upgraded. Just keep an eye on them for a while. Also exchanging the rear diff is sooooo much easier than the front! No jacking, not removing wheels, just hub studs, pull the axles out 6-8", drop the tail shaft and pull the diff.

Mitch Wilson-Ross Look carefully mate as the weight is shifted from left to right and to the rear of the vehicle. I’ve done this track plenty of times in the past with no winching. Also tyres. The Trepadors are awesome for mud but their firm carcass on the radial version doesn’t allow for enough flex in the sidewall or through the centre to mould around objects like rocks and allow continued traction. Hope that explains a little for you.
@mitchwilson-ross8602
@mitchwilson-ross8602 5 жыл бұрын
Gony G Gony G mate I was there lol, the weight shifts due to the step on the back passenger side and the car weighing a tonne with super stiff rear springs making the front end shift around, nothing to do with wheel travel and nothing to do with being a Toyota🤣
@gonyg5316
@gonyg5316 5 жыл бұрын
Mitch Wilson-Ross Think about what your saying mate. 4 wheel driving is all about traction and traction is achieved through weight distribution and wheel travel. By the way wasn’t hating on you blokes by any means. We all love the same thing, getting out there and doing it. Was just offering up an opinion based on many years of being in the industry and trying a shit load of different tyres and suspension products. Anyways keep doing what you’re doing and having fun.

Ooft, troopy on treps, dream come true. Especially on yours! I think to take full advantage of them you need beadlocks. On the road they are decently loud which is to be expected 🤷‍♂️ we don't drive to far on them because they are the sticky compound, and these ones seem to be pretty well balanced somehow so he doesn't get the death wobble

When winching don't spin your wheels, just use enough gas to help the winch. Spinning the wheels causes the weight of the vehicle to bounce on and off the cable which can cause it to snap with deadly effects!!!!! Or crosses up the cable on the drum, and risks shearing bearings ect.

@@livin4x4 cool, another question, what's the difference between the comp trepador and the normal bias trepador? Is it just the tire compound? Yalls vids have made me want to try those treps out as a next tire, since they actually offer a 37 inch that fits a 16 inch wheel, I figured it would be a nice upgrade from my 35 inch BFG km3s, that reminds me, what size tires were y'all running? And thanks for responding.
@livin4x4
@livin4x4 5 жыл бұрын
No worries😊 The competition is a soft compound, definitely the one you want unless you plan on doing a lot of driving on asphalt because it will wear through them pretty quick, they will also bag out heaps more The trepador on the 80 series are 35's, if you wanna check out some 37's in action there is some videos of a land rover on my channel that's running them, and in the latest 80 series meet video there is some that get a good thrashing
