If youre worried about scratches in your paint, dont take it bush.
@akent469 ай бұрын
The odd scratch when going bush is different to rubbing the whole rig down with, effectively, sand paper, removing microns of paint each wash. This starts paint peel and clear coat lifting off.

it's not a binary proposition.

A bit advertorial but great content. Products and techniques have come a long way since the 'sponge and two bucket method'. Foams that stay foamy really help soften all sorts of road and off-road muck. Pressure washing is ok but keep the lance away from sensitive bits. As said here, low pressure high volume not the other way round. These wheeled under cleaners are also great, including where roads are salted. There's loads to really like here and I've not seen the installed chassis hoses. Very trick. Keeping a vehicle clean when used only on highways is hard. 4WDs needs even more care and it's often more difficult to do. Thanks!!

Before drying off, grab the garden blower (or some shop vacs you can move the hose to the other end and it blows warm air) to get a large amount of water out of the mirrors, door jams, handles, grill, headlights. It really makes half the work and stops runs later once you’ve grabbed that microfibre drying towel and gone over the car to dry it. I use a flash version for detailing but a garden blower or shop vac is going to do a nice enough job all things considered.
@stco24269 ай бұрын
A blower is good advice. A short drive can also do the same, as long as it's not dusty! The drive also clears water from brakes, bellhousing, bellows etc.
@FuManchu5ltr9 ай бұрын
@@stco2426 downside there is that it also dries the rest the car and that will leave water spotting and lead to etching. After a short drive, water will continue to drip out of headlight, grill, around handles messing up the work and time spent cleaning. Just blow out the places a microfibre drying towel can’t get into. Then wipe down with a thick microfibre drying towel while moisture is still on the car.
@FuManchu5ltr6 ай бұрын
It doesn’t. I’ve done it for years and years. Theres still loads of water on the car, just not trapped in all the crevices. There are actual professional blowers for cars that detailers use, they are heated. I’m just suggesting a hack using a common household item. BigBoi is one brand of detailers blower. (That’s what she said)
@caltravels94549 ай бұрын
You completely ignored 1 massive thing, the engine bay, when I was a detailer, my 5 tips is, 1. if it's bad, fork out the cash for a professional, we have the chemicals and acids and disposal to do it right, 2. cover the computer. 3. use a range of brushes to get into the nooks and crannies, 4. when using high pressure be extremely careful and don't get too close, especially around wiring/connectors spark plugs, let the detergent do most the work, 5. Avoid sun like the plague.

I used to polish the D1 2 times a year with Autoglym Super Resin Polish, dirt would just fall off with a hose pipe. for the chassis, park in a river for about 10 mins! :-D I suspect as the old D1 has been sat up for a while now that it might need a good flush out, but better wait until the Robin's have fledged as almost guaranteed there is one nesting in there somewhere! The 110's new galv chassis has been done with Buzzweld's products and they are awesome.
