When u mention tyres pressure , explain it for those who don’t know why it is important , increasing the contact surface area playing the best rule for sand driving . Great tutorial. African maasai

If you were going to tow a box trailer on the beach, would you prefer for single or tandem axle, and why? Thanks.

on the topic of maxtrax, i was beside a young couple in a 4x4 shop and they wanted them but couldnt afford them so i overheard their predicament and chimed in. there is a much cheaper and better in my opinion alternative. its a stuff called FRP grating or fibreglass grating. much stronger, wont wear if your mate spins wheels on it and strong enough to build up the track to get over rocks etc . . we also use ours as a table. i got a 2mx2m piece for $200, chop it up into 300mm strips approx, thats 8 max trax easy for about $25 each. 4x4ing doesnt have to be expensive.

thats a good idea! where do you get it from?
@heliarcweldandmachine5 жыл бұрын
@@clairehenman6075 a company called Permastruct in wangara. but theres always offcuts on gumtree. im not affiliated with that company at all i just dont see the point in buying into brands when there is no need.

I've heard aggressive tires are not better on soft sand cause they cut into the sand. I drive a FWD 4 cylinder van with tiny street tires. Because my van is light at 3500lbs ive been able to drive through some very soft powdery sand in central Florida where guys with much more powerful RWD trucks can't . however every now and then I get stuck but it's very close. My oem tires are 215/55r16 (8.5" wide) non aggressive street tires .. how much better would I do on soft sand with something 12% wider like 9.5" say 245/50r16? does rim diameter, offset and amount of sidewall matter too?

Any experience with the Tucson 4wd for beach driving?. Of course I am not talking about intense expert driving. I haven't found reviews in regards to Tucson performance on beach. It has dual clutch transmission. Any experience with Tucson?

kinda silly it seems to let the air out before getting up on the max trax board. Seems in order to get off the diff. youd want to keep the air in the tire until you were on the board

That sand was very soft and would of bogged again.

Unless you are very well trained, tyre pressures below 20psi is highly dangerous. Sure it might help un-bog your vehicle, but the danger of tyres coming off the bead especially when turning is far too common.
