I love Julian, CA. I'm originally from Carlsbad, CA which used to be a great little town with Eucalyptus Trees and tomato fields, now it has grown tremendously.

I've been to Julian many times. It's beautiful, especially when it snows. I lived in Escondido in the early to mid 70's and would go there for the fun and the Apple Cider. One time we took back a pickup bed full of snow with us, it was great fun !

I LOVE the town of Julian, I'm so glad you're going to spend more time there! So much history, great apple pies, and a fun place to walk around and explore. FYI: Apple Alley Bakery has gluten free pies and sandwiches available, which was a real treat for me the last time I was there.

Welcome to the town! Happy to see you've made it out this way, I've spent my life growing up in this place away from the hassles of the city life and wouldn't trade it for anything. I practically live out there in there desert and mountains camping and getting even further away from the chaos that is everyday life haha. Hope to meet up with you one of these days on the trail.

been going up to Julian for years, great place especially just after a snow they will sometimes get enough for a fun daytrip. random flocks of wild turkeys wander about town mainly I have seen them around the fire station. Area around Heise Park has some good trails for hiking. Friend of mine has a home out that way and they occasionally will pick up a mountain lion on their night-time video cam.

Great coverage of Julian, Brian. i've spent a lot of time there many years ago when I lived in San Diego, returning periodically for day trips for apple pie and the Dudley bakery breads down the hill at Santa Ysabel cross roads. Hopefully, you'll stop at Dudley's and check it out. Am looking forward to your future videos of the area. Also great coverage of Anza Borrego desert. I haven't spent much time there. Today is Mar 2 and we are expecting rain in the OC. Will be watching the Sierras weather for the snow storms and hope you get some winter camping footage.

Brian, first, you’re looking really good. Given your recent health issues you’ve looking pretty recovered. Second, I loved this video. This is such a different take from you off grid camping. This video was very educational and scenic. Got to see a new side of you. I love your off grid videos in the snow, but I also enjoyed this different perspective. You and Foresty are my favs. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the ranch.

Yeah, I'm really starting to feel better...still having some lingering issues but the docs told me I will have lingering issues for the next few years given the fact my giardiasis went unchecked for so long. I loved putting this video together, history is my first passion and I enjoy anything of historical significance. Foresty has been really jamming lately with his new 4x4 van build! Love his channel, he seems like a really great guy. Hope your weekend is off to a great start! ~ Brian

Julian, CA is enchanting- love that town and the surrounding area. If we ever happen to be driving through, we make it a point to stop for a bit at the Descanso Junction Restaurant too. If it weren't for California's tyrannical government, this would be a lovely place to live. CA itself is amazing...geographically.

Hi Tom, yeah Julian sure is awesome! What a cool town with incredible history. I've not had a chance to roam much of the area around town so I plan to return to Julian in a few weeks to hit some of the hiking trails, etc. I agree about the CA Govt, back in the 2000s I lived in San Clemente and Newport Beach. I always about died every time I'd go register my car. Compared to what we paid growing up in the Midwest I always looked at CA vehicle fees as robbery. Same goes with the state income tax...what exactly was I paying for with all the money going to the State? It sure wasn't to fix the roads or improve any other infrastructure. It's too bad the politicians have subjected the people of CA to such fraud. I hope Newsome gets recalled, he's the worst.

Thanks for the great content. I saw that you have info for nomad vehicle registration and I was just wondering if you've come across any work arounds for full on nomad banking. Thanks again.
@OffGridBackcountryAdventures
@OffGridBackcountryAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Good Morning Cotey Bucket, I've not found a good solution for nomad banking. I have all my deposits set up to hit my bank account via direct deposit so I don't really need to go visit a branch. I'm with Commerce Bank in Kansas (family has banked there forever) and plan to stick with them for the time being. They are the best bank I've worked with and allow me to do a good deal of my banking over the phone, via email, and Skype calls. I like the fact they look for ways to work with me and my nomad lifestyle instead of just saying "no" like Wells Fargo, US Bank, and Bank of America. Maybe blockchain will one day be able to provide some sort of banking separate from the traditional banking system.
@coteybucket
@coteybucket 3 жыл бұрын
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures Good morning. That sounds about par for the course. I've managed to float on accounts I've started while being housed but that can get weird if your bank likes to send you tons of crap mail. Last time I was on the road I was doing a lot through pay pall and then all the sudden they wanted to do an address verification to let me access my funds and the address on my ID didn't match what they had anymore. I think block chain would be supper helpful for digital nomads but it still leaves out all the folks who do odd jobs and what not while they're on the road. Guess we all just piece it together as we can. Thanks for the response and the vids :)
