The 1st Satun Off Road Challenge International Off-Road 2024
KD Off Road Club led by Mr. Sunthorn Sakulsan the club's president and Mr. Pattarawut Muenthan vice president together with the Khuan Don Subdistrict Administrative Organization led by Mr. Waris Malinee, Mayor of Kuan Don Subdistrict Administrative Organization and was the chairman of the organizing committee for the 1st Satun Off Road Challenge International Off-Road 2024 Competition between 17th - 19th May 2024 at the NPKC 45 Military Development Unit competition field, Khuan Don District, Satun Province.
Which it had the objective of organizing compete as follows:
1.To earn money to contribute to public benefit activities in Khuan Don District
2. Promote tourism in Satun Province
3. Stimulate the economy in the area
4. Build friendly relations with neighboring countries.
This time there were competitors from Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the People's Republic of China and Thailand. There were also foreign volunteers participating in this competition from Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Singapore so there were participants international in a total of 11 nations.
The competition were sponsored cooperation and support from many agencies such as the Khuan Don Subdistrict Administrative Organization, the NPKC 45 Military Development Unit Regional Development Office 4, Tourism Authority of Thailand Satun Office, Mr. Phibun Ratchakitprakarus District 1 MP Satun Province, Provincial Council Member of Khuan Don District, Khuan Don District Administrative Office, Khuan Don Police Station, Toyota Phithanphanit Company, Satun Irrigation Project Office, Kuan Don Highway Section, Nong Plak Ya-Khao Rayabang Sa Wildlife Sanctuary, Village Chief -Village Headman Club, Khuan Don District and many other agencies.
The competition is divided into 4 categories: 1. Wishbone category 2. Leaf Spring category. 3. Lightcore category (Simple Jungle category ) 4. Hardcore category ( Open Jungle category ) There were 6 teams of racers from Malaysia, 1 team from Indonesia, 1 team from the People's Republic of China, 1 team from Myanmar and including Thai racers all competitors were total 46 teams.
The competition used the rules of local off-road competitions in the south and the rules of the Thailand Off-road Championship with mr.Man Aliair acting as competition directer, mr.Chalermkiat Bunchuay, mr. Chatchai Susaad, mr.Chukiatti Kanghae (Mr. Chang Chu), Ekarin Rodmee, mr.Manu Suvinitchai, mr.Bunsong Wansanit, mr.Prayad Rueangchan(Toey),mr.M Captain Yangyon, mr.Phongchana Wannawad,mr.Weerayuth Liao Sitthikul, mr.Noi all from the Southern Off-Road Competition Committee came to act as race officials and marshalls, mr. Teerachai Benjaphan acted as score control.
- Day2, May 18th - At approximately 9:00 a.m., the Deputy Governor of Satun Province, Mr. Chatri Na Thalang honored to preside over the opening ceremony of the competition and flagged off the cars to compete together with Khuan Don District Chief Acting Major Yutthana Chaodurie, Mr. Waris Malinee Chief Executive of Khuan Don SAO and representatives from many agencies Village chief Village headman and invited honored guests.
Every category competed for another 5 SS in SS3 -SS7, where the race route was a brutal route in the natural forest 3 SS, each SS had a distance of approximately 100-150 meters target time for most in every category was approximately 5-15 minutes. And it had obstacle traps brutally difficult in Lightcore category, Hardcore category and Leaf Spring category from obstacles and traps that were full of deep muddy water, small stone, large stone, went up and down dangerous steep hills, trees squeeze the sides of the car body. The hardcore category was the catigory where the action was extremely thrilling and brutal which only the most skilled fighters fought through the brutal traps until the end of the competition with only 2 teams in SS3 and SS4.
For the 2SS double lane track, Wishbone category and Leaf Spring category encountered many obstacles but all it's not brutally difficult. Different from Lightcore category and Hardcore catigory dual racing routes in SS6 and SS7, There was a brutal deep mud pit trap,the descent and descent from two ponds in a row were very steep, causing some of the racing cars to experience muddy water. The suspension or winch was broken and unable to pass through the brutal pond.
